Hiding Lyrics
When all the world's asleep and tired
You cry a little, so do I, so do I
I think you hide
And you don't have to tell me why
You cry a little, so do I, so do I
Not sure I can deal with this
Up all night again this week
Breaking things that I should keep
I know there's a part of you that I just cannot reach
You don't have to let me in
Just know that I'm still here
I'm ready for you whenever, whenever you need
Whenever you want to begin
But something stops you every time
You cry a little, so do I, so do I
And it's your pride
That's keeping us still so far apart
But if you give a little so will I, so will I
Not sure I can deal with this
Up all night again this week
Breaking things that I should keep
I know there's a part of you that I just cannot reach
You don't have to let me in
Just know that I'm still here
I'm ready for you whenever, whenever you ned
Whenever you want to begin
These hands not fit for holding
But if you let me, oh
I will see you around
Not sure I can deal with this
Up all night again this week
Breaking things that I should keep
Not sure I can deal with this
Up all night again this week
Breaking things that I should keep
I know there's a part of you that I just cannot reach
You don't have to let me in
Just know that I'm still here
I'm ready for you whenever, whenever you need
Whenever you want to begin
I'm still here

I adore this song. It's a bit more predictable than her usual style, but that just makes it easier to get into, for me. I love the transition from timildly admitting, "You cry a little.... so do I.", to her saying more earnestly "But if you give a little, so will I." I've been here before, seeing someone so beautiful beneath the surface in a defensive shell. I like the meaning behind this song, like gently coaxing a frightened animal into the open. You don't have to let me in, dear. But I'd love it if you did. I know that you're hiding. And I'll be right here until you need me.

To be honest, this is my least favourite song of the new album. In my opinion it starts alright but the bridge and chorus are a bit average. Feels kind of like the black sheep on the album, like the song isn't finished. But maybe it'll grow
@culprit Funnily enough, this is probably my second favourite song off of the album, after Ship to Wreck. I think the vocals, lyrics, instruments, and arrangement all come together perfectly, whereas I don't think that's the case for the majority of the songs on the album.

@JamesMathieu: It's great you wrote that comment, because I had already forgotten that I wrote mine. And the song really did grow on me! I like it a lot, actually. I have to disagree with you on your impression of the whole album though: Although I think it's not as awesome as Lungs and Ceremonials, it quite grew on me.

Plus the twinkling music the beginning always makes me smile.

Supposedly “Hiding”, is about Florence’s friend. Something has happened in their life and has shut them out from the world. Florence wrote this song for them, including “Third Eye”. Florence wants to help them, even though she’s not the best at it. While writing the song, Florence realized this song may have been for herself, too.
