Sometimes I wake up in the morning
To red, blue, and yellow skies
It's so crazy I could drink it like tequila sunrise
Put on that Hotel California
Dance around like I'm insane
I feel free when I see no one
And nobody knows my name

God knows I live
God knows I died
God knows I begged
Begged, borrowed and cried
God knows I loved
God know I lied
God knows I lost
God gave me life
And God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried

Sometimes I wake up in the morning
To red, blue and yellow lights
On Monday they destroyed me
But by Friday I'm revived
Put on that hotel California
Wear my blinders in the rain
I've got nothing much to live for
Ever since I found my fame

God knows I live
God knows I died
God knows I loved
God know I lied
God knows I begged
Begged, borrowed and cried
God knows I lost
God gave me life
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried

So let there be light
Let there be light
Light up my life
Light up my life
Let there be light
Let there be light
Light up my life
Light up my life
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried
God knows I tried

This song is so beautiful. I think its about trying to be happy when you feel like there's no reason to live, and all you want to do is hide in your own little bubble. In the end you know you won't succeed, and you know you'll give up totally, but you try anyway. This song is so beautiful.

The guitar bit at the intro reminded me of the intro of "kinda outta luck". I thought this song might have been about the struggles she faced being an alcoholic, and personal things she's dealt with from a very young age, maybe why she chose a "lizzy grant era" vibe from this song, idk.

We know she's Christian so this song must be like the story of her life struggles, leading up to now - not knowing what to do now that she's so famous.

It's very pleading and appologetic, like she's scared of failure and scared of not finding peace after so long, even though she can be happy a lot - "god gave me life, so let there be light" It's like she's ready for inner pesce

I think this song is about her struggles with fame and wanting to escape. Lana is a very introverted person and likes to be by herself because people are always wanting to come in, and in this song she talks about how she feels free when she's by herself and away from civilization where everyone knows her.

Also, I don't know if this means anything but there's several references to the band The Eagles in this song.

"Sometimes I wake up in the morning To red, blue, and yellow skies It's so crazy I could drink it like tequila sunrise"

'Tequila Sunrise' is a popular song by The Eagles. Although she's probably talking about the drink here, in the Eagles song, they describe the world as a tequila sunrise and a person's depression.

'Hotel California' is also a very popular song by The Eagles

I think in this song she's trying to find the light and her inner peace.

I think this song is about addiction. 'dance around to hotel , I believe hotel California is about heroin addiction and going to rehab to break the cycle, it doesn't break easily.Hotel California is a strange song to dance to.

God knows I tried 'to give up'

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
