Fixing up a car to drive in it again
Searching for the water, hoping for the rain
Up and up
Up and up

Down upon the canvas, working meal to meal
Waiting for a chance to pick on your orange field
Up and up
Up and up

See a pearl form, a diamond in the rough
See a bird soaring high above the flood
It's in your blood
It's in your blood

Underneath the storm an umbrella is saying
Sitting with the poison takes away the pain
Up and up
Up and up, it's saying

We're gonna get it, get it together right now
Gonna get it, get it together somehow
Gonna get it, get it together and flower
Whoa
We're gonna get it, get it together I know
Gonna get it, get it together and flow
Gonna get it, get it together and go
Up and up and up

Lying in the gutter, aiming for the moon
Trying to empty out the ocean with a spoon
Up and up
Up and up

How come people suffer, how come people part?
How come people struggle
How come people break your heart?
Break your heart, oh

Yes I wanna grow, yes I wanna feel
Yes I wanna know
Show me how to heal it up
Heal it up

Oh, see the forest there in every seed
Angels in the marble waiting to be freed
Just need love, just need love
When the going is rough, saying

We're gonna get it, get it together right now
Gonna get it, get it together somehow
Gonna get it, get it together and flower
Whoa
We're gonna get it, get it together I know
Gonna get it, get it together and flow
Gonna get it, get it together and go

And you can say what is, or fight for it
Close your mind and take a risk
You can say "It's mine" and clench your fist
Or see each sunrise as a gift

We're gonna get it, get it together right now
Gonna get it, get it together somehow
Gonna get it, get it together and flower
Whoa
We're gonna get it, get it together I know
Gonna get it, get it together and flow
Gonna get it, get it together and go
Up and up and up

We're gonna get it, get it together right now
Gonna get it, get it together somehow
Gonna get it, get it together and flower
Whoa
We're gonna get it, get it together I know
Gonna get it, get it together and flow
Gonna get it, get it together and go
Up and up and up

Fixing up a car to drive in it again
When you're in pain
When you think you've had enough
Don't ever give up
Don't ever give up

    My Interpretation

In my opinion, of course this song wanna tell us to not give up on what we fight for. the singer encourage themselves to break all the obstacles in their journey.

Deeper than that, I think it's about how we look at this world, the world we live in. Everyone in this world has their dreams and what they want to do and achieve, but sometimes we just think that the life never gonna change no matter what we do. We think this world and everything in it is so bad. The world has been broken, no matter what we do. We stop to pursue our dreams and purposes.

But if we watch the music video, Coldplay give us a new perspective of this world. This world isn't as awful as we thought. This world and every human-race activity that happen in it is so beautiful just the way it is. We need to see the world from a new perspective, stop blaming this world/make it as a reason of our circumstances. Do what you can do as hard as you can.

If we fall, we gonna get up again, up again up and up

    My Interpretation

Although not a native English speaker , but I what I got from the song was quite impressive for me. I love it how coldplay talks about such amazing concepts. And not only relationships that most other musicians talk about .\n\nWhat I got from the song is the hope that human beings will find a way to get things in order, and the song encourages you to hang on and believe in yourself and humanity, despite all the madness and cruelty and challenges that might be there. \n\nI agree with the comments above, and they really helped me getting there. About the marbles , I thought it was obvious that it\'s talking about Statues of angels waiting to be carved out of Marbles with effort and love. \n\nSo if you\'re struggling through life, hang on, don\'t give up. It\'s worth it. \nAnd if you\'re not struggling, be kinder, do sth. for the world to be a better place. See it from other perspectives ( It\'s not in the lyrics but I got that from the Video ). There are bigger things than greed for personal wealth, see it as a whole, it\'s not only the human beings that matter, the whole world matters. What if other creatures had power over us ? How did we want them to treat us ? How are we treating the ones that we can rule over ?

    My Interpretation

First off: These are amazing lyrics. Chris Martin has always been one of my favorite lyricists and every single line in this song has meaning. There are no filler words, things he said because they rhymed, he didn't write this song so it would be popular, he wrote it because it mattered. I don't understand every lyric to this song, but will try my best and deduct what I can from each line.

"Fixing up a car to drive in it again" Trying to get heal yourself after the destruction of a relationship so that you can love again. Chris Martin and his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, divorced in 2014. The album "Ghost Stories", released before the album this track is on, "A Head Full Of Dreams", is clearly a reflection on his thoughts and feelings during that time and I believe this line is about him, and that most of the album was him healing after the events of 2014.

"Down upon the canvas working meal to meal" So down upon the canvas tells that this is a struggling artist. It could be referring to Chris Martin at the start of his career, or it could be referring to the people of the world, struggling, not being recognized for their talents and wasting away. Or perhaps it means we're all blotches of paint on the canvas of Earth. I'm not entirely sure of its meaning, but I trust that it has a good one and anyone can have their own interpretation of it.

"waiting for a chance to pick your orange field" waiting for your big break, waiting for opportunity to present itself, waiting for something to come along.

"See a performer, diamond in the rough" as William Shakespeare said, "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts..." so, similar to the "We all are blotches of paint on the Earth's canvas" thing, we are all performers on a stage called the Earth. And many people are never recognized for their greatness; never seen by others and living out their lives one boring day after the next believing that they never could have been anything, and regretting all the chances they never took. Therefore, diamonds in the rough.

"See a bird soaring high above the flood it's in your blood, it's in your blood" And there are other people that stand out from the rough; the diamonds that get found by others or themselves. These are the people you hear about. They soar above the flood of the human race, striving to leave their mark on the world. And the "it's in your blood" thing? It could be about strength and confidence coming from within, or how naturally these things come to you. You can be a diamond in the rough, or you can be a bird soaring high above the flood. And I've also noticed how frequently he includes birds in his lyrics. Perhaps he never lost that child-like wonder of flight, or is using it as a metaphor for freedom and beauty and overall success. Either way, he's kinda obsessed with birds...

"Underneath the storm an umbrella is saying Sitting with the poison takes away the pain Up and up, up and up" so, I never really understood this verse, so I just looked it up and read one person named Sagar Chheda write their interpretation and it was better than what I had come up with, which was nothing. They say: "This particular verse has quite a deep meaning. There's an umbrella suffering in rain, has a heavy burden and no escape, but the umbrella says “sitting with the poison takes away the pain” meaning if you've already prepared yourself for the worst, your version of worse may not happen and that might make you feel that this wasn't as hard as I expected it to be."

And then there's the chorus, consisting mostly of the lyric "We're gonna get it together, I know, and go up, and up, and up". So, this clearly is an inspirational song, possibly written about humanity as a whole getting their act together, or about individuals that are going through difficulties. Either way, it is basically saying 'hey, I know times are hard right now, but things are going to be okay' which really is something that everyone needs to hear at some point in their life. I personally see it both ways, and believe it could be politically influenced.

"Lying in the gutter aiming for the moon trying to empty out the ocean with a spoon" so, lying in the gutter is somewhere no one wants to be. It is a metaphor for being in a bad place in life and wanting to be somewhere better but knowing that it's unlikely to get where you want to go, but continuing to dream. Trying to empty out the ocean with a spoon is trying to do something big to make a difference in the world but being just one person and feeling incapable, like you're a drop in the ocean. It all comes down to "can one person make a difference?"

"How come people suffer? How come people part? How come people struggle? How come people break your heart? Break your heart?" fairly self-explanatory, but it's asking why humans are so cruel to each other. Why we intentionally hurt one another even when it's not for personal gain. We claim to be an advanced, civilized, intelligent species but ultimately we are all animals in the end. We do things for ourselves out of selfishness and fail to uphold morals. So, basically, why?

"Yes I wanna grow and yes I wanna feel yes I wanna know so show me how to heal it up, heal it up" again, self-explanatory, but it's someone saying they want to heal themselves, again Chris Martin referring to his broken heart and learning to love someone and that person showing him how to love again.

"See the forest there in every seed" Say each person is a seed, and the world is a forest. Again, each person is part of a bigger picture.

"Angels in the marble waiting to be freed" I honestly don't really know with this line. If you have an idea, please reply to this comment.

After more chorus, is the line: "Cause you can say what is, or fight for it close your mind, take a risk. You can say "it's mine!" and clench your fist, or see each sunrise as a gift." (AMAZING LYRICS) It's presenting you with two options, saying 'you can talk about it, or you can do something about it' and 'you can claim something and keep others from it, or you can enjoy it with those people and be grateful it exists at all'

Then it repeats the chorus four more times before repeating the opening line followed by "When you're in pain, when you think you've had enough, don't ever give up." Which is, quite honestly one of the most important things about this song and dare I say one of the most important lyrics in music. It is then followed by: "Believe in love" thus ending the song. It is an excellent song with an amazing message. He did it very well in the Superbowl 50 halftime show and I am so proud of them all.

Love in a Vacuum
'Til Tuesday
Well, in my opinion this song is about being a young & maybe a little naive &/or introverted girl and finding yourself loving a man who is at first very charming, carefree & outgoing, and seems at first to be without limits, as in "There was a time you opened up every doorway you didn't mind if everything wasn't your way" then that man starts to gradually become more introverted & shows their more possessive/obsessive side to you as the relationship progresses, even while they keep up the appearance of being carefree & outgoing to everyone else, "Don't pull away that goes against what you told me I look in your eyes I realize what you've sold me is love in a vacuum" so you confront them about the way they're acting and of course they deny it, "I think you've changed but you insist that that's not true" quite possibly they are an addict of some sort, my guess would be cocaine, &/or showing very obsessive behavior towards you (early on in the video for this song we see the man hanging a picture up, it is a very large portrait of Aimee & it is prominently displayed in his/their apartment for the duration of the song), thus their "love in a vacuum", "You look so strange, so distant that you're hardly you Now I can see how you have been acting different You say it's me but I know that it isn't it's love in a vacuum" but still you are in love with them and don't want to leave them and you know that they are truly in love with you and they don't want you to leave them either, maybe they are convinced you can save them from themself, maybe they are so broken that the possibility of an overdose &/or suicide attempt is very real and you want to get through to them that their behavior not only dangerous but it is also just pissing you off and if they don't wise up they run the risk of loosing you, as in the lines "You will be lonely if you leave me alone", so you want to save them but can't get through to them due to the addiction &/or emotional problems they have, "Love in a vacuum and that's not enough love in a vacuum You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way You will be lonely if you leave me alone You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough" you want them to understand that the love they are giving you is not enough when it is filtered through the vacuum of their drug addiction &/or emotional impairment, "You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough and just wait you will be lonely Love in a vacuum Love in a vacuum and that's not enough Love in a vacuum". 'Love In A Vacuum' for me is a hauntingly truthful acute argument on the loneliness of obsession and almost inevitable loss of love that follows people who are broken in some way or another; the obsessives, the coke heads, the drunks, addicts or the just-plain-old emotionally broken; a razor sharp, lyrically driven, deceptively poppy, yet ultimately-depressing-in-the-best-way song. Quintessential Aimee Mann.

Word Alive, The
This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
