Unstoppable Lyrics

All smiles, I know what it takes to fool this town
I'll do it 'til the sun goes down and all through the night time
Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'll tell you what you wanna hear
Leave my sunglasses on while I shed a tear
It's never the right time, yeah, yeah

I put my armor on, show you how strong how I am
I put my armor on, I'll show you that I am

I'm unstoppable
I'm a Porsche with no brakes
I'm invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I'm so powerful
I don't need batteries to play
I'm so confident, yeah, I'm unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I'm unstoppable today

Break down, only alone I will cry out now
You’ll never see what’s hiding out
Hiding out deep down, yeah, yeah
I know, I’ve heard that to let your feelings show
Is the only way to make friendships grow
But I’m too afraid now, yeah, yeah

I put my armor on, show you how strong how I am
I put my armor on, I'll show you that I am

I'm unstoppable
I'm a Porsche with no brakes
I'm invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I'm so powerful
I don't need batteries to play
I'm so confident, yeah, I'm unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I'm unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I'm unstoppable today

I put my armor on, show you how strong how I am
I put my armor on, I'll show you that I am

I'm unstoppable
I'm a Porsche with no brakes
I'm invincible
Yeah, I win every single game
I'm so powerful
I don't need batteries to play
I'm so confident, yeah, I'm unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I'm unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, unstoppable today
Unstoppable today, I'm unstoppable today

Empowerment? More like an attempt to convince (her)self in chorus, while the song itself is showing that even unstoppable on the outside is human inside.

Why would someone strong and confident need to fool a town? Would putting on armor correlate with strength ("I put my armor on, show you how strong how I am")? No, it has nothing in common. It would only show that there's no overconfidence in play Really, would anyone drive a Porsche without brakes? A car like that without brakes is not a force to be reckoned with - it's "give way to a madman" on a road.

There's a very adequate video clip on youtube for the song, with HitGirl (from "Kickass" movies). Exactly the character - a Porsche without brakes when there's a mask on.

I can relate to this song. Someone raped me and it destroyed my world. I felt bipolar (or like jekyl/hide), because to the outside world I held my shit together. But when I was alone, I'd fall apart. For the longest time I couldn't even talk about it. In the end, I did become stronger. At first I was more like I was emotionally unhinged, but later on it's almost like I was drunk with power. I had regained my "power" but I still was hurting. Finally got the help I needed, and I confronted the asshat who hurt me.

My Opinion

@jaybles22 totes relate except the last part\r\nI haven\'t gotten over it yet ????

@jaybles22 Thank you, thought it was just me. Loved this song until I paid closer attention to the lyrics, album name and realized that it\'s not a song about empowerment, it\'s about putting up a strong front while crying inside without anyone to know the real you. For me, that took the song from "OMG I wanna go work out and become like her" (only a male version) to "Holy crap this is both empowering and sad as hell."\r\n\r\nAlso, I\'m glad you confronted that bastard - I hope he\'s neutered or at least sterilized at minimum so "his...

In the verses Sia is clearly insecure, leading me to believe that she is trying to convince herself that she is unstoppable.

Similar to Chandelier, she is putting on a brave and carefree persona while deep down she is in pain that she is desperately trying to hide.

My Interpretation

@MD1456 I know right?! This is a song about someone capable and awesome on the outside but inside she\'s alone and in pain, with no one listening or seeing that tear.

A lot of people mistakingly think that Sia song is an empowerment anthem, but they are wrong. It is a song about masking hurt and pain, insecurity, and trying to convince yourself to be strong and go on. Smiling to fool people, appearing to be strong and resilient on the outside.

Then she speaks about putting her armor on. "A Porsche with no brakes" she is wild and unbridled yet at the same time, she is insecure. She is trying to convince herself that she is unstoppable, that by masking those insecurities and appearing strong with her "armor on" she will show others how unstoppable she is.

"Break down, only alone I will cry out now, You'll never see what's hiding out" Saying that only when she is alone does she show her pain on the outside. She will not reveal that to others.

"I know, I've heard that to let your feelings show Is the only way to make friendships grow But I'm too afraid now, yeah, yeah" She finds it hard to trust others and reveal her "weaknesses" then circles back to putting her armor on to face the world.

Sia is a genius, the song is misinterpreted by many.

@DeeCee Agreed on your interpretation, tho I think I personally don’t think „I’m so powerful, unstoppable“ etc is necessarily about convincing herself rather than being ambivalent about it altogether, convinced of being powerful yet being aware of the price to be paid by not showing any insecurities/feelings whatsoever. Knowing this also results in loneliness and estrangement, due to doubt and assuming everyone around you acts the same way…

@DeeCee Maybe simply a comment on the industry altogether ????‍♀️

@DeeCee exactly. It's all about to convince others that she is some type of superhuman or superhero, but in reality and at the iside, she's absolutely not. I like the video with a woman braking the glass over and over again. In really, it's some sort of insanity to do a thing like that, just to prove others, how powerfull she is. And those ridicoulous oversized pants ... In short, I think it's a song about a huge ego of a very unconfident person.

Based on what I’ve read about her, she suffered childhood trauma including SA & also suffers from depression as an adult. She’s also on the autism spectrum. That’s a whole lot of pain.

The bit about putting on her armour & also shedding tears behind sunglasses shows that she’s putting on a brave face in public.

Best song ever. Looks to be about anything being possible with empowerment.

@bennyboyle I disagree - I think this song is about the opposite, and expressing a frustration with the fact that the singer feels a need to put a mask on, pretending that they're strong even though they feel weak and defeated. It's an acknowledgement of the opposite of most modern 'empowerment' songs, sarcastically emulating them in the chorus but showing the true, broken down self in the verses. Essentially, it is a satire of the modern pop sentiment that we are 'unstoppable.' While that's not super fun, it is a more accurate reflection of our fallen human condition, and a...

@bennyboyle Love this song, but it\'s not about power, it\'s about pain. Hidden pain inside a seemingly fully capable woman who has no one with whom she can open up to. She\'s got to "fool this town", from experience, because no one\'s listening or knowing the real her. Song sounds awesome if you don\'t pay attention to the full lyrics and realize that it\'s sad as fluck.

There have got to be psychologists who would kill to have her as a client. Someone capable of awesomeness but who has no outlet for her inner thoughts and pains, so she\'s got to hide it and now has problems building strong friendships. Sia\'s a genius with this song.

@davidyie i think this song is about the female who has suffered in her life till now but she says that now on she has learned a lot from her experiences that nobody can fool her and she will fight back against all the odds and she will show them who were fooling her till now that she knows how to control her life and get what she wants and she will not be a victim but.a fighter nad nobody can stop her f om achieving what sh wants\r\n

Think of a person with psychic problems like chronic depressions. You spend quite some time suffering alone at home. When you need to go out, you try to let no one know that you are fighting anxiety while you show your trained smile. "I'm good" is your standard answer because the usual human will not understand you feel. Because behind your mask, behind your sunglasses, you are slowly dying inside.

All smiles, I know what it takes to fool this town I'll do it 'til the sun goes down and all through the night time Oh yeah, oh yeah, I'll tell you what you wanna hear Leave my sunglasses on while I shed a tear

no matter what challenge I face I am always ready ... This is definitely an empowerment song.....but sometimes masking all your hurt and pain won't make your problems disappear so why not face them by telling yourself that you are much stronger than who you are ... If you don't like where you are today.. then imagine where you wanna be ... Everyone needs a safe place even if it's in a world where they feel stronger ... Thank you sia for such a wonderful message.. there is nothing wrong with affirming yourself ..there are a lot of women out there who hide their pain with a smile and that does not make them fools ... It is what they go through that makes them stronger
