We don't talk anymore, we don't talk anymore
We don't talk anymore, like we used to do
We don't love anymore
What was all of it for?
Oh, we don't talk anymore, like we used to do

I just heard you found the one you've been looking
You've been looking for
I wish I would have known that wasn't me
'Cause even after all this time I still wonder
Why I can't move on
Just the way you did so easily

Don't wanna know
What kind of dress you're wearing tonight
If he's holding onto you so tight
The way I did before
I overdosed
Should've known your love was a game
Now I can't get you out of my brain
Oh, it's such a shame

That we don't talk anymore, we don't talk anymore
We don't talk anymore, like we used to do
We don't love anymore
What was all of it for?
Oh, we don't talk anymore, like we used to do

I just hope you're lying next to somebody
Who knows how to love you like me
There must be a good reason that you're gone
Every now and then I think you
Might want me to come show up at your door
But I'm just too afraid that I'll be wrong

Don't wanna know
If you're looking into her eyes
If she's holding onto you so tight the way I did before
I overdosed
Should've known your love was a game
Now I can't get you out of my brain
Oh, it's such a shame

That we don't talk anymore (we don't, we don't)
We don't talk anymore (we don't, we don't)
We don't talk anymore, like we used to do
We don't love anymore (we don't, we don't)
What was all of it for? (we don't, we don't)
Oh, we don't talk anymore, like we used to do

Like we used to do

Don't wanna know
What kind of dress you're wearing tonight
If he's giving it to you just right
The way I did before
I overdosed
Should've known your love was a game
Now I can't get you out of my brain
Oh, it's such a shame

That we don't talk anymore (we don't, we don't)
We don't talk anymore (we don't, we don't)
We don't talk anymore, like we used to do
We don't love anymore (we don't, we don't)
What was all of it for? (we don't, we don't)
Oh, we don't talk anymore, like we used to do

We don't talk anymore (don't wanna know)
(What kind of dress you're wearing tonight)
Oh (if he's holding onto you so tight)
Oh, the way I did before
We don't talk anymore (I overdosed)
(Should've known your love was a game) oh
(Now I can't get you out of my brain) woah
Ooh, it's such a shame
That we don't talk anymore

    Song Meaning

This is my explanation of what the song means.

A boy and a girl we’re in love. They faded into each other. They obsessed over one another, and lost each other in themselves. They damaged each other without truly knowing the pain they caused to the one they loved the most.

The girl realizes this first. They leave each other and she quickly moves on to someone knew.(perhaps to forget the pain he caused?)

The boy alone with his pain begins to realize why she left, why they don’t talk anymore like they used to. He feels he can’t love anyone else, and wonders what was the point in loving her?

He knows she found someone knew and a part of himself wishes that someone was him. He wonders why he can’t move on from her, like it seemed she did so easily. He can’t help, but think of her. What she’s wearing. Who she’s with and if he’s treating her right. in his mind the way he treated her was right. He knows he overdosed into their love. He says that her love was a game and he can’t forget her, but he doesn’t truly understand what these words mean yet. He truly misses her and wants her back.

The girl now alone with her pain, forgets the truth... she begins to wonder why he left, she can’t help, but think of him being with a new girl and her loving him like she did. she believes, like the boy, that the way she loved him was right. She knows he’s gone, and knows they left each other. She wonders if it was in good reason, or if they made a mistake.

She still thinks of him. She imagines what it would be like to see him again, and if he’d take her back or not. Her mind switches back to thinking of the girl he’s with. she can’t help, but think of him looking into her eyes, like he used to do to her. Her holding onto him like she used to do for him before she felt she overdosed into their love. she says that his love was just a game and she can’t forget him, but, like the boy, she doesn’t truly understand what these words mean yet. She truly misses him and wants him back too.

Both are in pain. Thinking of each other and why they don’t talk anymore again. They miss each other, but something feels off. They are both with someone knew, and can’t help it they think of each other when they are with this person. They both are slowly waking up to the truth. They begin to find themselves again. They start to see how much control they had on each other, this new person they are with shows them that, and they also see they can be loved by someone new. They both look back again to when they were thinking of each other, and those words they said. “Should’ve know you’re love was just a game and I can’t get you out of my brain.” They see the truth that they had known, but rejected for so long become clear as day. They accept it.

Now they both are understanding the real reason they don’t talk anymore. They caused each other so much heartbreak and pain without even noticing what they were doing to each other and themselves. They realize what it was really all for. They take the lessons they’ve learned and carry them forward with their lives. When they look back they still miss each other and a part of them will always love each other from a distance, but they finally understand why they don’t talk anymore, like they used to do.

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.
