Youth Lyrics
When I left you you were young
I was gone but not my love
You were clearly meant for more
Than a life lost in the war
Free to run
Get dizzy on caffeine
Funny friends that make you laugh
And maybe you're just a little bit happy
Feel your mother at your side
Don't you know you got my eyes
I'll make you fly high
You'll be happy all the time
I know you can make it right
Now your life is back to fun
But you see that's not for long
Cause I know you'll feel the ghost
Of the memory so warm
Free to run
Get dizzy on caffeine
Funny friends that make you laugh
And maybe you're just a little bit happy
Feel your mother at your side
Don't you know you got my eyes
I'll make you fly high
You'll be happy all the time
I know you can make it right
Free to run
Get dizzy on caffeine
Funny friends that make you laugh
And maybe you're just a little bit happy
Feel your mother at your side
Don't you know you got my eyes
I'll make you fly high
You'll be happy all the time
I know you can make it right
I'll make you...
Free to run
Get dizzy on caffeine
Funny friends that make you laugh
And maybe you're just a little bit...

After listening to this a few times and watching the video, I believe this is a song about a mother who gave her child up for adoption and as the years go by is always thinking of him.
1st verse - He was just a baby when she let his life but it wasn't because she didn't love him, she wanted a better life for him (meant for more than...)
2nd verse - continues the idea that she wants a good life for him, but understands he might end up affected by not having her around (little bit dappy)
Chorus - Fly (live your life freely), Feel your mother at your side (She's with him in spirit), Don't you know you got my eyes (No matter how far apart he will always have the same eyes as her and their bond will always exist.) I'll make you fly (setting him free from a dead-end fate by giving him away), I know you can make it right (She has faith he will find a way to move past the abandonment issues and find a way to live peacefully)
Verse 3 - She knows his life will be upset by giving him up, but only for a short while until he settles into a new life, and deep down he will always feel her spirit in his happy earliest memories.
I think the video works with this too as it shows a woman pained with the image of a little boy, trying to find him but being unable to in the end.

The First verse describes someone meeting someone they parted with when they were young after a time whome they still love and feel sorry for and that they know that this position could of become someone if they were not at 'war' with themselves.
The pre-chorus Is: The Writer telling this someone that they want them to be happy, have fun and make friends and also expresses to this someone that they might be a in a little bit of a dappy state of mind
The chorus ahhhh this... is shouting out me that this person is depressed because of their mothers death (maybe) or that this hole songs protagonist is the mother of the ones who is depressed (or that this somes dad is the protagonist)
either useing the someone's mother as a image of comfort or suggesting for the person to think about her in life or death
"Feel your mother at your side" either literally or metaphysically
"Don't you know you go my eyes" If from a parent then either his alive mom or the widowed dad. (hereditary eyes) (could be a close relative)
If not then this unknown protagonist is either telling this someone that they are looking out for them (looking eyes)
The rest of the chorus is the Protagonist telling the depressed someone (or relative) that they know that they can get better and are willing to help
sSde Note (later you see the last repetition of the chorus come back to the first verse one last time with "i'll make you" maybe implying that the protagonist is going to go for this hard. Then also the last repetition of the first verse doesn't end with dappy maybe implying that he is has either made him not dappy or that he is going to make him something else. The boy is now a (blank canvas)

youth
is about an older person who is seemingly not able to be happy and is being called for it. It is as if its trying to breake apart a depprestion from within someone with the song or that he himself cant get out of this depprestion and is describing how he feels

“Youth”
"The idea for this one came from a story someone told me once. They were telling me about their child, and something awful had happened to them. She was crying—but at the same time the memories that they had from that previous life made her so happy—so she was also smiling. That combination of emotions kind of made me feel like my heart was being ripped apart but also optimistic in a weird way. She had found a way to see happiness in this awful thing that had happened to her. That combination of emotions is what this song is getting at. Have a look at this character’s website (http://dizzyoncaffeine.com/) , too."
