Life's a Mess

The new Juice WRLD song, “Life’s a Mess” features Halsey and is on the rapper’s first posthumous album, Legends Never Die, that will be released on July 10th. The track is a tribute to Juice WRLD’s passing last December due to an accidental overdose. “Life’s a Mess” features uplifting vocals from Juice WRLD and harmonies from Halsey. This duo creates a riveting song that guides the chorus. With the pair ultimately singing, “I get high when I’m upset/ I remember when me and love ain’t click/ Looking for something real, then I found it”. The song is a balance of synth and vocals that shows even posthumously, Juice WRLD’s voice is still being heard. “Life’s a Mess” is leaving fans and first-time listeners mourning over the loss of Juice WRLD and his unique voice and message.

Life’s a mess really clicks with me. When first listening to the song I was intrigued by the different sounds and beats playing. The lyrics at the beginning of the song make me think the guy singing has finally found the love of his life, however as I continued to listen I learned that he was talking about being hurt by the one he loved.

As the music continues, I like how he talks about not throwing in the towel when you feel like you’re the only one trying. It sounds like he was trying to make it work with his last relationship, or is the only one trying to find true love, but he continues searching despite all the heartbreaks and downfalls he’s faced.

Towards the end of the song I was to the point of thinking the song was just a breakup song, only to find out the real message of the lyrics. The artist thought he had found true love but was heartbroken when he was the only one giving in the relationship and it’s sadly ended. Luckily, to his surprise, the artist found what he was looking for all along. The true love of his life and someone that makes him happy.

I feel like the message the artist is trying to portray is simple. Sometimes things don’t work out, jobs, relationships (in this case) or whatever it might be. It isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes things happen for a reason, and in this story it was having your heart broken, given time to heal and reflect, and then given the opportunity of real love in which he grabs ahold of.

Things happen for a reason, although sometimes we don’t always see them in the moment.

This song shares the struggle of loneliness. It’s a portrayal of the search to find that person who brings life and color to a world full of pain and hardships. The desire to share our lives and experiences with another person is something that everyone has felt. We all have a desire to be seen, to be heard. It hurts when the person who we thought cared about us walks away. But if we keep on searching, eventually we will be able to find someone who fits us perfectly. All the pain, all the setbacks, they shape us into who we are. I think that the artist wants to show us that there is someone out there for us. To give us hope to keep on searching. Someone will love all the broken pieces that life as shattered. That person will see beauty and light in what we can’t. In return, we will do that same thing for them. Love like that is a two-way street. It needs both people to search and to try and find that perfect fit. Life gets messy and we all make mistakes and fall. Its lonely and discouraging. But beauty is there even in the darkness. This song is a beautiful take on love and the journey to find it. Writing a song like this takes understanding and experience. It unites us all and gives hope during the journey.

Life's a Mess is definitely not my type of song choice. It's got an interesting tune, but it's not a song that hooks me to keep listening to it. However the lyrics are catchy and meaningful. Identifying how the world is unjust and such a mess and through trials and tribulations we can succeed in finding true love.

Which is ironic because Juice WRLD's death occurred and then this song was released after 7 months of him passing. It's really unfortunate this was his last song and that there will be no more music from this very talented singer. In addition, Halsey contributes so beautifully to this song with her amazing voice.

The music video to this song is also phenomenal. The video of the artist painting Halsey and Juice Wrld hugging with light brush strokes is so impressive and yet heartbreaking.

Juice WRLD and Halsey collaborated and released a song on June 6th, 2020. The title of the song, “Life’s A Mess” is a reference to feeling lost without your soulmate and without them, your soul feels like a mess. In the opening verse, Juice WRLD, aka Jared Higgins, talks about a special relationship between you and your soulmate. He also expresses that your soulmate leaves an everlasting mark on your soul.

In the second half of the song, Juice WRLD talks about his life and how it changed when he finally met his soulmate. He says in the song, “Been pretty f*****’ bad, but it’s better now” which explains that he's put the past and pain behind him and has moved on. In the final verse of the song, Halsey talks from the woman's perspective and how she’s glad she crossed paths with her soulmate. She says that she wants to be by her soulmate's side and show him the bright sides of life. In the last couple lines, Halsey says “I’ll put the light in your eyes if I’m allowed to” which means that she is willing to show him happiness and keep his past behind him as they both move on and continue to be happy together.

Listening to the song for the first time, all I can think of is ‘how hard this guy has had it with love.’ Starting with falling head over heels, receiving unfulfilled promises, letting go, and finally learning to live and love once more. These are steps that many of us take for granted, and if not, we never get a happy ending, and thus, the statement ‘life is a mess.’

The song shows the many options at your disposal when searching for love or fulfilment. The center of the matter is never giving up, keeping on the move, never drowning in past mistakes or heartbreaks, but soaring with every step you take into the future. As the chorus shows, you will finally ‘Find it.’

The first time watching the video, I was amazed by all the mess in colors and the messy lines that do not amount to anything. In the end, I peer at the completed canvas, and the song ends with ‘don’t let me be here alone’ because I already found you. To me, it is undeniable that the song is about a woman, but at the same time, it can offer advice to many people finding it hard to co-exist with others in life. Finding something that will keep you busy and pour your passion to it is what might save you!

That’s just it. The song elicits many different scenarios in my head, and sticking to one is proving difficult. All in all, it is incomparable and quite poetic!

What the song means to me and my opinion Everyone has that special someone out in the world just meant for them. When I meet her, I would know at that moment that she is the one. I would leave behind everything that has occurred prior to meeting her. It might be difficult at first but I have to keep pushing, I have to make it work because I will be heartbroken and feel lost in this world if I let her go. I will definitely take it easy on her and make her see me for who I really am. I will give this song a rating of 8/10.

Factual Research This song was released July 6th 2020. Rex Kudo who was Juice’s producer was one of those who found real love and Juice appreciates him for all he does. This song talks about close friends who are always there for us when everything seems to have gone bad. For Halsey, Juice was an amazing friend.

What the artist means Juice wants to know if one has been so in love with someone-not just anyone, but that special one. The one that you promise the whole wide world and everything in it. He said “when love is real, you will know deep in your soul”, you will feel it. He was with someone but not the right one, he wants her to move on because they were not meant to be and the right person for him was somewhere out there. He gets high when he is upset, he finally found who he was looking for but it did not work out. This life is not fair. But through tough times, he came out stronger and then things became much better.
