Mirrorball Lyrics

I want you to know
I'm a mirrorball
I'll show you every version of yourself tonight
I'll get you out on the floor
Shimmering beautiful
And when I break, it's in a million pieces

Hush, when no one is around, my dear
You'll find me on my tallest tip-toes
Spinning in my highest heels, love
Shining just for you
Hush, I know they said the end is near
But I'm still on my tallest tip-toes
Spinning in my highest heels, love
Shining just for you

I want you to know
I'm a mirrorball
I can change everything about me to fit in
You are not like the regulars
The masquerade revelers
Drunk as they watch my shattered edges glisten

Hush, when no one is around, my dear
You'll find me on my tallest tip-toes
Spinning in my highest heels, love
Shining just for you
Hush, I know they said the end is near
But I'm still on my tallest tip-toes
Spinning in my highest heels, love
Shining just for you

And they called off the circus, burned the disco down
When they sent home the horses and the rodeo clowns
I'm still on that tightrope
I'm still trying everything to get you laughing at me
I'm still a believer, but I don't know why
I've never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try
I'm still on that trapeze
I'm still trying everything to keep you looking at me

Because I'm a mirrorball
I'm a mirrorball
And I'll show you every version of yourself tonight

“mirrorball” is a song about someone having many different sides to them. No one sees every side of the person, but only what they want to see. Though Swift sings, “I’m a mirrorball/I’ll show you every version of yourself tonight”, this only showcases that she is trying to show you only what you want to see. While her gaze is only on you, she is “Shining just for you”. This is how Swift needs to be so many versions of herself. The person that the public, her friends, and her family knows.

I believe this is a love song from Taylor to her mother. It is a continuation of “Soon you’ll get better” from Lover.

“They say the end is near” - Taylor has always been pretty private about her life and we don’t know how her mom is doing with cancer.

Many of the other lyrics are about pleasing someone and doing whatever they can to get and keep someone’s attention. As if to Taylor she has done much of what she has done in her life to get her mothers attention and please her. And she still feels this way today - she isn’t doing it for the fame or fortune, but to say “hey mom, look at me! Who will I be doing this for when you are gone?”

Beautiful song.

The sixth track of Taylor's new album 'Folklore' was written by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff. Produced by Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift. It was recorded by Laura Sisk at the Kitty Committee Studio (Los Angeles, CA) and Jack Antonoff at Rough Customer Studio (Brooklyn, NY). Mixed by Serban Ghenea at Mixstar Studios (Virginia Beach, VA). The track was released on July 24, 2020.

What the artist means On the ‘mirrorball’ off her latest album Taylor begins on such a soft and melodic beat. Her voice gently shakes the room and she tells a lover that she's a mirror that can show him every version of himself. This song feels like a call to love as well as a treat to avoid breaking up or else. The song has a tingly innocence yet touch of bad ass to it. The track is built around the soft hook and let's Taylor show her stuff. It isn't heady at all and the message is quite simple. She uses the word 'hush' so expertly and she's owning this track with a vigor I've not seen from her in a minute. She speaks about a disco, rodeo and circus as she tries to get her lover in her world. She's trying everything to keep the interest looking at her. Gosh, she's doing such a good job at that because we simply can't stop looking at her.

What the song means to me The song is sonically pleasing and perfect music to my ears. I love what she did by keeping the beat simple and once again using her voice as the main instrument. The track feels like a calculated warning but also a soft plea to a lover to tread lightly and avoid hurting the partner. It's for the keeps and something I can't wait to play for my lover during a cold night with us under the sheets and whispering sweet nothings. Class song from a class act indeed. I will give this song a rating of 9/10.

I think this is one of the most vulnerable songs Taylor has written. It’s sweet and lovely yet Insecure and unstable. I think we’ve all felt the need for the one we love to always have eyes for us. To keep them looking at us....I also think this is the one song she might reference the pandemic. “They say the end is near”.... this song is quite beautiful and raw. The album is one of a kind ....see good things always happen along side bad things. This world wide pandemic has left everyone in a different state than before it happened but somehow good things have also been born out of it and this album is one of them. Thank you Taylor. For always being YOU
