Willow Lyrics

I'm like the water when your ship rolled in that night
Rough on the surface but you cut through like a knife
And if it was an open shut case,
I never would've known from the look on your face
Lost in your current like a priceless wine

The more that you say, the less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man

Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind
Head on the pillow, I could feel you sneaking in
As if you were a mythical thing,
Like you were a trophy or a champion ring
And there was one prize I'd cheat to win

The more that you say, the less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man
You know that my train could take you home
Anywhere else is hollow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man

Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind
They count me out time and time again
Life was a willow and it bent right to your wind
But I come back stronger than a nineties trend

Wait for the signal and I'll meet you after dark
Show me the places where the others gave you scars
Now this is an open shut case
I guess I should've known from the look on your face
Every bait-and-switch was a work of art

The more that you say, the less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man
You know that my train could take you home
Anywhere else is hollow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man

The more that you say, the less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man
You know that my train could take you home
Anywhere else is hollow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man

Hey. that's my man
Yeah, that's my man
Yeah, that's my man
Every bait-and-switch was a work of art
That's my man
Hey. that's my man
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans
That's my man

What the artist means The track starts with tender strings, she's crooning about being like the water that her lover sips through at night. She's crooning about how priceless she is, it's quite clear that he's going to be the one losing if he walks away. She's painting a picture of an erstwhile lover sneaking into their room at night, after messing up for another time. She's letting us know what she could do for love, as long as it is reciprocated. Life could be so simple if everyone keeps to their side of the bargain, the track also sees her arrange a meeting to trash out their issues once and for all. She's begging him to stay faithful, take her hand, and go home once and for all.

What the song means to me The track is super soft, ultra-beautiful, and squeaky clean. It's a work of art that shows off Taylor's superb songwriting which is already looking like a superpower. She's crooning so effortlessly, riding the beat tantalizingly, and finding multiple pockets of space to work magic on the track. She's narrating a sordid ordeal, but you wouldn't notice how much pain she's going through because she has mastered the art of creating magic while going through turmoil. The track is contemplative, it makes me look deeper, and I couldn't have asked for a better opening track. I will give this song a rating of 9/10.

Taylor Swift's song 'willow' is the lead single of evermore and included the release of the accompanying music video alongside the release of evermore. Swift uses the willow tree as a metaphor for life and compares it to casting a spell to make someone fall in love with you. The song uses guitar, glockenspiel, flute, and strings to create a longing that we did not know we had. Swift sings that she is hoping you "Wreck my plans, that's my man/ Life was a willow, and it bent right to your wind…/ Wherever you stray, I follow". 'willow' makes you feel nostalgic for a love that was more in your head than your heart. This song helps you overcome something you hoped to be and something you ope to be potent as a willow.
