Fuck you and your mom and your sister and your job
And your broke-ass car and that shit you call art
Fuck you and your friends that I'll never see again
Everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off

I swear I meant to mean the best when it ended
Even tried to bite my tongue when you start shit
Now you're textin' all my friends askin' questions
They never even liked you in the first place
Dated a girl that I hate for the attention
She only made it two days, what a connection
It's like you'd do anythin' for my affection
You're goin' all about it in the worst ways

I was into you, but I'm over it now
And I was tryin' to be nice
But nothing's getting through, so let me spell it out

A-B-C-D-E, F-U
And your mom and your sister and your job
And your broke-ass car and that shit you call art
Fuck you and your friends that I'll never see again
Everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off

Na-na-na, na-na-na-na
A-B-C-D-E, F-U

You said you just needed space and so I gave it
When I had nothin' to say, you couldn't take it
Told everyone I'm a bitch, so I became it
Always had to put yourself above me

I was into you, but I'm over it now
And I was tryin' to be nice
But nothing's getting through, so let me spell it out

A-B-C-D-E, F-U
And your mom and your sister and your job
And your Craigslist couch and the way your voice sounds
Fuck you and your friends that I'll never see again
Everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off

Na-na-na, na-na-na-na
A-B-C-D-E, F-off
Na-na-na, na-na-na-na
A-B-C-D-E, F-U

And your mom and your sister and your job
And your broke-ass car and that shit you call art
Fuck you and your friends that I'll never see again
Everybody but your dog, you can all fuck off

I think its about getting over a break up/divorce. (£v©k u and ur mom and ur sister and ur job and ur broke-@$$ car and that $#!+ u call art £v©k u and ur friends that ill never see again everybody but ur dog u can all £v©k off) Her tone in singing this part+the words say that she was really mad at her ex but could never build up the confidence to express her anger and so let it all build up inside her. (I was into u But I'm over it now And I was tryna be nice But nothing's getting through So let me spell it out

A-B-C-D-E-£ U) This part shows that she built up enough courage to confront her ex and let out all her anger. After that part her tone changes back to calm.this suggests that her ex did something that scared her into not letting her anger out on her ex again.but it doesent take to long for that fear to go away and for her brain to say "£v©k it,lets let lose on this &!©#". (A-B-C-D-E-£ U) At this point nothing will stop her from letting all those bottled up emotions out and giving her ex what he deserves.

It\'s about using the first six letters of the alphabet before using the twenty-first letter to form the profane phrase "Fuck You".

From the first time I heard this, I felt it was someone expressing herself, same way as getting a tattoo, or other form of expressive art. I find it liberating, even listening to it, and as a father to a teen daughter, empowering and even using this song as a discussion topic, to see how she feels about it. Something that happened, maybe a statement on society today, a very close business acquaintance of mine, someone for all intents and purposes, is a decent human and smart, thoughtful, etc. He brought this song up in conversation, and said he thinks it's offensive, and shouldn't be played on radio. He said "women shouldn't use that kind of language in anger, it's okay to use it in regular conversation, but a female shouldn't, because it makes them look weak and emotional and kind of crazy. I asked him to elaborate, he told me it's mostly his wife that feels that way, and he agrees, and he agrees that women should be careful how they're perceived, as it could get them into trouble and "attract the wrong crowd". I gave him plenty of opportunitiy to explain more, and after a few minutes I just told him that if he really feels that way then we can't do business together anymore. He tried to backpedal his words, but haven't spoken to him in a year. He didn't understand the irony of it... we all can choose who we spent time with, and here's GAYLE expressing how angry she is having given her love to someone that "always put yourself above me"....she realized it, gave him chances, and said fuck you, I'm out. That guy, my former business friend, was saying that she should be quiet and polite and not express anger on that situation, or she'll be labeled as crazy? I told him, imagine if she didn't - that's what depression is, anger turned inward when repressed and stuffed down. The reason why it's ironic, he has a Masters In Industrial Psychology and Organizational Development, and speaks to thousands of people a year in how to treat employees. I was shocked, and I hope he learned something. I certainly did. My barometer, is my daughter... our conversation about that song and how she interpreted it is gold. I thank GAYLE, for being who she is and getting it all out there for people to listen and interpret. If I'm thinking in the right way, the GAYLE would be happy to hear that my daughter and I are talking about her song. Thank you to GAYLE, you're being heard and you're making a difference, in at least one person's life.

Love in a Vacuum
'Til Tuesday
Well, in my opinion this song is about being a young & maybe a little naive &/or introverted girl and finding yourself loving a man who is at first very charming, carefree & outgoing, and seems at first to be without limits, as in "There was a time you opened up every doorway you didn't mind if everything wasn't your way" then that man starts to gradually become more introverted & shows their more possessive/obsessive side to you as the relationship progresses, even while they keep up the appearance of being carefree & outgoing to everyone else, "Don't pull away that goes against what you told me I look in your eyes I realize what you've sold me is love in a vacuum" so you confront them about the way they're acting and of course they deny it, "I think you've changed but you insist that that's not true" quite possibly they are an addict of some sort, my guess would be cocaine, &/or showing very obsessive behavior towards you (early on in the video for this song we see the man hanging a picture up, it is a very large portrait of Aimee & it is prominently displayed in his/their apartment for the duration of the song), thus their "love in a vacuum", "You look so strange, so distant that you're hardly you Now I can see how you have been acting different You say it's me but I know that it isn't it's love in a vacuum" but still you are in love with them and don't want to leave them and you know that they are truly in love with you and they don't want you to leave them either, maybe they are convinced you can save them from themself, maybe they are so broken that the possibility of an overdose &/or suicide attempt is very real and you want to get through to them that their behavior not only dangerous but it is also just pissing you off and if they don't wise up they run the risk of loosing you, as in the lines "You will be lonely if you leave me alone", so you want to save them but can't get through to them due to the addiction &/or emotional problems they have, "Love in a vacuum and that's not enough love in a vacuum You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way You will be lonely if you leave me alone You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough" you want them to understand that the love they are giving you is not enough when it is filtered through the vacuum of their drug addiction &/or emotional impairment, "You will be lonely you'll be the only one who feels this way it's just not enough and just wait you will be lonely Love in a vacuum Love in a vacuum and that's not enough Love in a vacuum". 'Love In A Vacuum' for me is a hauntingly truthful acute argument on the loneliness of obsession and almost inevitable loss of love that follows people who are broken in some way or another; the obsessives, the coke heads, the drunks, addicts or the just-plain-old emotionally broken; a razor sharp, lyrically driven, deceptively poppy, yet ultimately-depressing-in-the-best-way song. Quintessential Aimee Mann.

The Spy
Doors, The
Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
