Anti-Hero

Verse 1 : It's her. She's the problem. It's her. She's having guilty dreams about pushing people away until the ghost of her ego pays her a visit at the door to explain. She somehow has this deeply sad embedded thought that, "everyone will betray her in the end" (see music video.)

Verse 2. : It's still her. She's still the problem. It's her. She does charity like things to make people think she's cool. But really she's just paranoid that she isn't that good. (Narasism disguised as altruism. Again see music video.)

Verse 3 : Maybe it's not her. The crazy people in our lives DO play a critical role into who we are in his life. It's not absolute. But there's no way to avoid it totally.

I believe this is another amazingly on point and nuanced commentary on the insanity that follows emotionally abusive relationships. The abuser has no anxieties, no emotional pain, or salience/memory for that matter, so the survivor appears to be the crazy one, obsessed with the abuse and that buzzword that seems to ignite arguments about diagnosing people without a degree, etc. funny how you say the words domestic violence, abuse, abuse survivor and boom the subject changes. Anyways, I especially relate to her midnights becoming afternoons, complex PTSD often leads to this phenomenon, whether due to purposeful sleep deprivation by the abuser, or just hyper vigilance associated with the PTSD, along with the fear of facing people, especially your loved ones, who Never actually understand, even if they try, because all they see is you, on fire, screaming about the arsonist that no one ever sees, and who has been spreading lies about your alleged mental instability, deceptive personality, etc. the whole time. While the last thing survivors need is more blame, our society supports a narrative that blames the objectively innocent party because the blatantly guilty party has spent their entire lives fabricating a persona and we’re just being human, and human psychology is quite counterintuitive especially in the context of trauma. Look at Amber Heard. Vilified and not believed, regardless of what any abuse survivor could recognize as a fellow survivor instantly. But Johnny depp is a malignant narcissist, a man, and wealthy as all get out. It’s sick.

You people have all got it wrong. Just like every Taylor Swift song, this song is about KURT COBAIN. "My depression works the graveyard shift... all the people I've ghosted stand in the room." (Kurt was depressed and he's dead now. Taylor is depressed because of his death, clearly.) The "I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror" line is a reference to two Nirvana songs "Seasons of the Sun" and "Sappy." She'll stare directly at "Seasons of the Sun" but wants to avoid the more melancholic Nirvana songs like "Sappy" where Kurt was clearly depressed. The whole dream sequence might be confusing in any other context, but not when you listen to "Lake of Fire." I mean C'MON people. It's OBVIOUS.

She feels repelled by people coz she always winds up as a problem why coz she pushes everyone away thinking that they will hurt her in the hence she's always the anti-hero

Okay so I really don't know about this song it makes me feel really sad because I feel it 💔 😢
