The world was on fire, no-one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
I'd never dreamed that I'd need somebody like you
And I'd never dreamed that I'd need somebody like you

No I don't want to fall in love
This world is always gonna brake your heart
No I don't want to fall in love
This world is always gonna brake your heart,
with you

What a wicked game to play
To make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do
To let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say
You never felt this way
What a wicked thing you do
To make me dream of you

No I don't want to fall in love
This world is always gonna brake your heart
No I don't want to fall in love
This world is always gonna brake your heart,
with you

The world was on fire, no-one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
No and I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you
I'll never dream that I lose somebody like you, no

Now I want to fall in love
This world is always gonna brake your heart
Now I want to fall in lust
This world is always gonna brake your heart,
with you

Nobody loves no-one

To me this song is simply about the wickedness of the game of love, because everyone really knows how wicked it really is, and He is saying how he doesn't want to fall in love with them because of of how scary it is to fall in love...Also how you can try to fight it and how when you are in love only one person can save you and you'd do anything for that person...and how he is in disbelief because of this love for this person...and he just wants to fall in love....at the end of this song there is a double negative, NObody love NO one...that means that everyone loves everyone or something like that...

HIM is a really cool band and who cares if they are satanist or whatever they really rock!

    Hmm... where to start?

    (1) HIM is not in any way, shape, or form a Satanistic band. Ville always sings about God, Christ, The Resurrection, The Sacrament, Commandments, and many other allusions to the Bible. Evidently, the songwriter (who is extremely talented, I might add) must know a thing or two from that sacred Christian Book. I'm not trying to say that they are a Christian band either, but they are not Satanists. A key example of this is the song "The Sacrament". Go listen to it and THEN tell me that they worship Satan.

I once went to one of their concerts and heard Ville mention God a couple of times before the night was through, not even in songs, but when he would talk to the audience.

Plus, the Heartagram is similar to the Pentagram, a symbol of Wiccans and Magick (If I offend anyone who participates in any sort of witchcraft or magick with any false information, I apologize). Witches DO NOT worship Satan, but a God and Godess. Satan is no part of their religion, and your saying that a plainly Christian man is a Satanist may offend someone who DOES worship Satan, putting you in a bad spot.

    (2) You simply CAN'T worship God and Satan. It just doesn't work. Not even a turncoat could pull that off. Sorry.

    (3) HIM has no particular meaning, although it is commonly known to stand for His Infernal Majesty, which is a complete misunderstanding. Sorry, Loves.

    (4) Both of you, wiggles_666 and quiffporn, are entitled to your own opinions, and are also alowed to voice them by your rights as an American citizen. The First Amendemnt of the Constitution makes sure of that. But I am pretty sure, quiffporn, that all of the HIM fans, including myself, would appreciate it if you did not leave any negative comments about the band. Even though there is nothing and no-one telling you you can't, it is just common courtesy.

    (5) I believe this song is Ville saying his world was falling apart, and only this person could make it better. He says that people will do things that they normally wouldn't in order to get something or someone they want; it can cause them to be someone they aren't or do something stupid. He never thought that this person would mean this much to him, that he could need them so much. He doesn't want to fall in love with this person because he knows he is going to get hurt. In the end he realizes that no matter what, love will hurt you, and he says he does want to fall in love with the person. At the very end, Ville states that "Nobody loves no-one". This double negative translates into 'everybody loves someone'.

    (6) I do agree, dieyoupig, Mr. Ville Valo is quite a sexy beast. I always tend to go for tall skinny guys in eyeliner... =)

This here is just my interpretation, and a crappy one at that, but it is 3 in the morning and I'm tired so it's just half-arsed. As I was saying, everyone has their own interpretation of every song, and this is mine.

.......HIM arent satanists..... what gives you that idea ? ville isnt a satanist nor is, burton, gas, linde, or midge. also it has no satanic meaning. This song is a cover song and this isnt the original. also get over the spelling mistakes no one expets finnish people to spell in propoer english. by the way "jim bradburry" how can HIM as you said be "satanists but normal and christian?" that makes no sense. And Him is not a person its a band called HIS INFERNAL MAJESTY. by the way ville valo is sexy ;) and if any thing above is spelt wrong its because I CANT SPELL.

wow... please peopl -- if you don't know what you're talking about, don't say anything. -H-I-M- is in no way "satanic," nor is there a meaning for the letters HIM. Ville said it himself, they just come up with a different meaning for the letters all the time. The only reason they picked the name HIM was because the letters were all basically the same in every language. THERE IS NO MEANING. it's not "his infernal majesty." that's just a random name they said once. so get it straight.

they play "love metal." just because they play metal, doesn't make them religious or anti-christ. they're just regular people making love songs... expressing it with metal rather than pop.

    What does HIM stand for?

    • Ville's comments on this issue (from Soundi 6-7/2001):

Well, sometimes I wish that we’d picked other name for the band than HIM. The name constantly pisses me off. It’s utterly terrible! HIM! The upside is that it doesn’t actually mean anything, there are just three letters which are pronounced similarily in basically every language. It’s practical.

In almost every interview someone asks what does HIM stand for. I can’t even remember our latest lie about that. When Hanson was hot, we said it means Hanson Is Murder. The name doesn’t have a particular history. His Infernal Majesty was a totally different band. I think HIM derives from some death metal joke. And it was our protest to Haile Selassie’s rastafarian religion, he used to be called His Imperial Majesty. But nowadays because of Linde’s hair, we actually might be supporting him.

This is a cover of Chris Issak song from the early nineties. An awesome cover too.
