I'm drunk
And right now I'm so in love with you
And I don't want to think too much about what we should or shouldn't do
Lay my hands on heaven and the sun and the moon and the stars
While the devil wants to fuck me in the back of his car

Nothing quite like the feel of something new
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up in you
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up in you
Maybe I'm all messed up
This is the only time I really feel alive
This is the only time I really feel alive

I swear
I just found everything I need
The sweat in your eyes the blood in your veins are listening to me
Well I want to wrap it up and swim in it until I drown
My moral standing is lying down

Nothing quite like the feel of something new
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up in you
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up
Maybe I'm all messed up in you
Maybe I'm all messed up
This is the only time I really feel alive
This is the only time I really feel alive

Maybe I'm all messed up in you
(This is the only time I really feel alive)

This is the most underrated song of all time. Seriously it's like top 5 NiN songs

and as for the meaning.... uhhh kinda obvious

Once before performing the song live, a high as fuck Trent whispered "This... is a soooong.... about... FUCKING......" into the microphone very suggestively..... IT MUST BE ABOUT DRUGS!!!!!

i dont think he's drunk for real...he's drunk with infactuation for this new girl. being with someone for the first time feels so good you dont care about your morals. lust is a sin, and this song is clearly about lust. by commiting this sin he's not only nailng this chick in the back of his car...he's making love to the devil

I'm sure that this song is about sex with a new partner. With that said I think this is one song to play whenever you are with a possible new partner. She ofcoarse would have to be a little crazy and those are usually the best ones

I think this song is about a one night stand. "and right now I'm so in love with you" One night stands are often looked down upon by society so "maybe I'm all messed up" explains his feelings towards his "moral standing" laying down. How can you get the feeling of something new with somone more than once? You can't. So you have to continue to find that feeling, so in these situations "this is the only time I really feel alive" I love the song, and seeing him preform it on the Closure concert tape just...hmm...do I really need to explain?

This song is probably about someone having his first homosexual experience despite being told that it's wrong. "I'm drunk / And right now I'm so in love with you" Lowered inhibitions. "And I don't want to think too much about what we should or shouldn't do" "While the devil wants to fuck me in the back of his car" "My moral standing is lying down" "Maybe I'm all messed up /Maybe I'm all messed up in you" He's been taught by his religion that homosexuality is morally wrong. "This is the only time I really feel alive" "I swear / I just found everything I need" "Nothing quite like the feel of something new" He enjoys having sex with men, or at the very least, he enjoyed fucking that one guy at the back of his car.

I see this as a kind of part deux to 'Kinda I Want To'.

Well, a few of you ARE right, this song is about a homosexual experience that Trent had. But with who? Richard Patrick, his former guitarist and frontman of Filter. He wrote the song about their drunken sexual experience.

This song is one of the top 3 songs on PHM. Why the hell haven't more people commented on it. Has anyone seen the "Closure" video. It has a killer live performance of this song.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
