Kickstand Lyrics
Kickstand, you got the juice to fill my cup
My mother says that it's alright
My mother says that's the only life
Do it right
Come stand me up
Come stand me up
Kickstand, I got the words to come together
I got the urge to ride your trike
My mother says that's the only life

!
This comes right after "The Day I tried to live" as a quick pick-me-up. After such a depressing song, he's all upbeat and thinking he's gonna seize the moment again. Basically he just feels his moment of loss has passed and he's ready to stand up and get back into it again.
Like "Never Named" and "Drawing Flies", it's another short segue that means absolutely nothing and kicks ten insane types of ass.

Im afraid if you found a tied meaning between two consecutive songs schizima, it is a 99% chance that youre wrong. I agree i like the flow of the album but artists dont write songs that way and they are put in a different order on the cd than the way it was recorded. Albums usually do have a group of songs with a similar feel because they are written in a ceratin era of emotion, but most dont write songs for their songs. Only album i remember that truly tells an entire story and is ordered to tell it is Operation Mincrime by Queensryche

@AncientRhythm You have absolutely no idea what you\'re talking about. There are tons of concept albums that tell stories. The Wall is probably the most famous one, but there is also Apex by Unleash The Archers, literally every Coheed and Cambria album, Ghost Reveries by Opeth, and Kezia by Protest the Hero. And that\'s just off the top of my head, which barely scratches the surface. There are also 3 songs in Pearl Jam\'s album Ten that tell a story. They aren\'t right next to one another, but there is a story there. Schizima\'s theory is much more plausible than...

Mmmm.... I knew it XD So how well endowed is Chris Cornell? Anyone know? spasms
This song rocks hard.... heh, hard. I love cock songs.

I think It means both: He likes riding motorcycles cause he's a man with a big cock and motorcycles are fitting vehicles for real men with big cocks.

I always thought Kickstand was a metaphor for alcohol, "The juice to fill his cup". It stands him up (keeps him together), and maybe his mom's a drinker too. And booze makes you throw up if it gets ahead of you, or "gets loose".
@admiralfish well .. mmm ???? not like that , a long heavy chain and a lock ???? around both wheels ,and neck

Cocks and motorcycles? You losers.. His mother's said it's alright? About his cock? Are you even thinking? Let's apply the old "if you don't know what a soundgarden song is about, it's about heroin" logic.. Kickstand = bent spoon to cook heroin in Getting loose and throwing up? Somethings wrong with the spoon. It has the juice to fill his cup because, hello.. Heroin in the spoon.. My mother says it's alright /only life. In heroin circles a "mother superior" is a veteran junkie, because of the length of their "habit", it's a thing, I'm not making it up.. So the veteran junkie is telling him it's ok, it's the only life.. Other than that, I don't care to put more effort into this song because it's shite, it has to be the worst soundgarden song ever...
@D_Psi4or Your whole theory's demolished. Let me explain. CC wasn't a heroin addict, though I agree with your point about it not being about cocks and motorcycles. Chris wrote from his experience and through metaphor, I know it's difficult to grasp, but as much as media coverage falsifies subjects to get exposure and well because they're paid to lie to SHEEple, much to the contrary he was a happy man until Vickie came into his life. Even so, he still fathered ALL of his children, and treated that witch respectfully. I'm not saying it's not about heroin or it...

I'm not saying it's not about heroin or it is, the thing with opiate addicts is they're self serving dependent narcissist that tend to believe everything is literally about Heroin. If CC wrote a song about the subject at hand you can be sure as shit that it was written about his experience of either Mark Lanegan, Andrew Wood or Layne Staleys struggles, not his own. Someone above me wrote " the day I tried to live", as having depressing energy. To me that song was just pumped full of life. I don't have an interpretation of Kickstand. In fact that's why I came here however; I still believe Chris writing style is unique and requires for each individual to derive their own meaning from it. In a nutshell nobody is wrong, and all of you are right. Personally I don't think it's about any of those things, so I'll keep searching. Good luck in your endeavors.

This is the best song ever! It's all rock and roll to me. SO DO IT RIGHT.

I first heard this song when I listened through the soundtrack for the PC racing game Road Rash, and I've loved it since!
How about Road Rash on the '3DO', way back in 1994! It was so cool, but the platform was a flop.

Anyway, I knew of Soundgarden before that, but I did remember the rock in the game...
