Hello, hello, is anyone there?
Hello, is anyone there?

M1 A1
At a thousand miles an hour
Gorillaz got the base drum
Gorillaz say I want some, some
(Repeat)
A thousand miles an hour
Gorillaz with the beat drum
Gorillaz say I want some
A thousand miles an hour
Gorillaz with the base drum
Keep that sound
I said M1 A1
La la la la la la la hey

gorillaz are an english band and in england the M1 is a motorway, and the A1 is a big road. Somebody is in the middle of a road lost, shouting for help, then there found. Its nothing to do wit sum stupid tank

My dad was watching Day of the Dead, and I was in bed, and I heard it and thought he was listening to my music. That's about as scary as it got for me.

Yeah, guys. The entire first minute of this song is lifted directly from the opening of Day of the Dead. Great movie, btw. It's a great example of how Gorillaz took a simple riff and built onto it an entire song. Love it.

""day of the dead" part of John A. Romero's Trilogy"
That'd be George A. Romero. Get his name right, yeah?
And actually, the highway version sounds more plausible to me, and I live in the US. They're going a thousand miles an hour down a highway rockin' out. Sounds perfectly plausible. The whole tank thing sounds like you're just trying too hard to make it have some deep meaning about war. In any case, this album came out before the current war anyway. So... I gotta go with the Brits on this one. =\

Mach 1- 1000 mph. the song's meter can be broken up into numbers divisible by 1000. for example, the part of the song that goes, La la la la la la la hey, is triplets at 200 bpm except only playing the downbeat.
A1- the song is in the key of A.
just something interesting.

Anyone notice similarities between this song and the Modern Lovers song "Roadrunner"? They're sorta few and far between, but there are some pretty glaring similarities. Especially the chorus part with the similar word patterns and the "(X) miles an hour" stuff. Totally not saying Albarn ripped off anybody, that's for sure - they're still more different than they are similar. I'm just saying that influence is such cool thing. I just think it's very possible for M1A1 to have been inspired by Roadrunner, in the same way that Roadrunner was inspired by The Velvet Underground.
I know this is primarily a "song meanings" forum before it's anything else, so I guess just as far as what their relationship might mean in terms of song meaning could just mean that some of M1A1's meaning could be based off of Roadrunner's meaning. Aside from that, that's all I've got.

..........it makes no sense and yet....it ROCKS!!

i like this song...except the intro freaks me out when i'm out driving about...'cause i live iin the styx and it sounds really odd out here....sometimes i expect someone to jump onto the window and start screaming "hey, you....!"

You live in the third river of hell?

this is one of the few gorillaz songs i can consistently listen to.
