Come on and lay with me
Come on and lie to me
Tell me you love me
Say I'm the only one

Come on and lay with me
Come on and lie to me
Tell me you love me
Say I'm the only one

Experiences have a lasting impression (impression)
But words once spoken
Don't mean a lot now (now)
Belief is the way
The way of the innocent (innocent)
And when I say innocent
I should say naïve (naïve)

So lie to me
But do it with sincerity
Make me listen
Just for a minute
And make me think
There's some truth in it

Come on and lay with me
Come on and lie to me
Tell me you love me
Say I'm the only one

Come on and lay with me (lay with me)
Come on and lie to me (lie to me)
Tell me you love me (love me)
Say I'm the only one

Promises made for convenience
Aren't necessarily
What we need
Truth is a word
That's lost its meaning
The truth has become
Merely half-truth

So lie to me
Like they do it in the factory
Make me think that at the end of the day
Some great reward
Will be coming my way

Come on and lay with me
Come on and lie to me
Tell me you love me
Say I'm the only one

Come on and lay with me (lay with me)
Come on and lie to me (lie to me)
Tell me you love me (love me)
Say I'm the only one (only one)

Come on and lay with me (lay with me)
Come on and lie to me (lie to me)
Tell me you love me (love me)
Say I'm the only one (only one)

Come on and lay with me (lay with me)
Come on and lie to me (lie to me)
Tell me you love me (love me)
Say I'm the only one (ooh)

He's practically begging to his lover to make him a blind believer about her love and loyalty, no matter how false she can sound to his 'innocent' ears. He chose to be naive for not disappointing himself about her. A nut choice, I would say, but it's a fact that many people have also chosen to live at this way for not seeing the real truth...

I like specially its last lines, where he compares his situation to that employe who works hard all day and naively believes (or pretends to believe) his boss will give to him 'some great reward' for compensating him for such a dedication...

This has to be one of the most cynical songs ever.

In short, Martin Gore's conveying a sense that love does not exist--that it's only a "promise made for convenience," motivated out of shallow self-interest rather than devotion.

    My Opinion

Warning: this song is perfectly creepy, delightfully devious, and possibly destructive. It is very confusing if you are 12 and even more so if you are 41 and not aware of its incredibly pessimistic view. and to top it off you can't get the damn thing out of your head. were the Beatles ever this good/bad?

He wants to be in denial because the truth hurts him too much. Instead of accepting the fact that she is a lying cheat and needs to be dumped. I like it because it's a song about cheating that's more emotional too me than a lot of todays vengeful songs about the same subject.

    My Interpretation

I think it's about the submissive quality somebody has in their relationship where they come to believe that the person they're with loves them, though it's false. The only reason they think he/she loves them is because they turned their (sub)conscious mind into believing it, as a way of escaping from hurt and rejection. Their partner is probably secretly laughing behind their "innocent" smile, and it more often then not leads to failure as a relationship, because it's just not working out on a truthful level. It's a sarcastic way to fall in love; it's also a good way to die.

I've been on this weird Depeche Mode kick for the last 3 weeks or so. That and nueroticfish.

Either way, this is a great song. I think the lyrics tell the meaning pretty well, but for me its one of those songs that kind of speaks to how when you get to know your bf/gf better, you start kind of just wanting to have things back like before, when you didnt know they were lying, i.e. it was simpler.

Gorgeous, cynical little song. Very sensual musical and lyrical flow. I agree with most of what has been said. He seems to get off on the silly game, as if he is silently and smugly challenging the person to succeed at their attempted deceit.

Sensuous, cynical song. Obviously compares the relationship at hand to working at a dead-end job. I always heard the line "experiences leave a lasting impression" as "screaming and tears leave a lasting impression", which might indicate that the ambiguity was intentional.

Wikipedia claims that this is about adulterous relationships.

This song could be the male version of Diana Ross's Upside Down. That is, both songs indulge the opposite sex during a concert between singer and audience.

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
