Adventure seeker on an empty street
Just an alley creeper, light on his feet
A young fighter screaming, with no time for doubt
With the pain and anger can't see a way out
It ain't much I'm asking, I heard him say
Gotta find me a future move out of my way
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now

Listen all you people, come gather round
I gotta get me a game plan, gotta shake you to the ground
But just give me, huh, what I know is mine
People do you hear me, just gimme the sign
It ain't much I'm asking, if you want the truth
Here's to the future for the dreams of youth

I want it all (give it all I want it all)
I want it all (yeah)
I want it all and I want it now

I want it all (yes I want it all)
I want it all hey
I want it all and I want it now

I'm a man with a one track mind
So much to do in one lifetime (people do you hear me)
Not a man for compromise and where's and why's and living lies
So I'm living it all, yes I'm living it all
And I'm giving it all, and I'm giving it all
Oh oh yeah yeah ha ha ha ha ha
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I want it all

It ain't much I'm asking, if you want the truth
Here's to the future
Hear the cry of youth (hear the cry of youth) (hear the cry of youth)
I want it all, I want it all, I want it all and I want it now

I want it all yeah yeah yeah
I want it all, I want it all and I want it now
Oh oh oh oh oh

And I want it (now)
I want it, I want it
Oh ha

This song is about the power of youth, that feeling you have when you are a teenager that you are going to change the world, and that nothing can stop you. You literally want it all. It is definately not about selfishness! All those feelings are just normal, what would the world be without that young ideals and the strength to pursue them that only young people have! It may also contain some criticism on how society crushes down that strength.

PS: It's also one of my fav songs!

I think parts of this song are verging on metal.

The lines "I want it all and I want it NOW" come from Anita, Brian May's wife. (They weren't married then) But anyways, it's about youthful ambition - sort of rebellious, young people creating a revolution, feeling that teh ycan change the world. I love how they wrote songs about sooooooo many different things. Look at Somebody to Love, Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy, You Take My Breath Away, You're My Best Friend, Love of My Life, Save Me - to name a few. They are all love songs, really, but they are all sooooo different. The last two are both kinda "heartbreak" songs - about a relationship falling apart. But they are also extremely different. I love that about Queen.

The song was written by Brian May. It's often used in political campaigns and protests, probably most memorably the anti-apartheid protests in South Africa and Nelson Mandela achieving freedom and himself becoming the 1st ever black South African president. May says he wrote it on the basis of having ambitions in life and trying to achieve your goals. Awesome song.
