Brainstorm, take me away from the norm
I got to tell you something
This phenomenon, I had to put it in a song
And it goes like

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold display naturally

You want to know what brings me here, oh
You glide through my head, blind to fear
And I know why

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold display naturally

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold display naturally

You live too far away
Your voice rings like a bell anyway
Don't give up your independence
Unless it feels so right
Nothing good comes easily
Sometimes you've got to fight

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
Whoa, shades of gold display naturally

You launched a thousand ships in my heart, so easy
Still it's fine from afar
And you know that

Whoa
Brainstorm, take me away from the norm
Whoa
I got to tell you something

I listen to this and I swear, whoever this woman Nick is singing to, I hope she hears and feels the love that this man radiates. Rare is such a moment when something so true comes across on tape like this. I hear & feel a love there, one that I wish so much I could be capable of feeling for another... so warm, and so happy.

    My Interpretation

I think he could be referring to the color of the girl's aura, or her energy. It is said that every person emanates color depending on their state of mind/body/spirit, though it can only be detected with a special camera that capturates it. In any case, amber means "individual strength and courage", and golden yellow ("shades of gold display naturally") means "inspirational thought". No matter what he really meant, if it was the name of a girl, or even the color of the girl's hair, I think is a beautifull song :)

Maybe I am scared or sad, sometimes I listen to these songs, on the surface they sound sweet, but there is a double message. For example, the song "Patience", by Guns and Roses sounds so romantic, then the name of the album is "Lies". So basically its about leading a girl on..."round her up in a package of lies, send her off to a coconut island". There is that other band 30 Seconds to Mars, the name of their album "A Beautiful Lie", with that sort of romantic song "The Kill".

I sort of feel like this song is a beautiful lie. Yes you hear a relaxing loving tone. He sounds warm and happy, maybe he does feel a love for the girl, but not that much. He says, "You live too far away", his excuse for not seeing her. "Your voice rings like a bell anyway", which makes me think she is calling him on the phone and he doesn't have sufficient motivation to talk to her or visit her. If a guy likes a girl, he will fly across country to visit her. Yes, he liked her "launched a thousand ships in my heart", then he says "still it's fine from afar...". He doesn't really want to see her.

What does he have to tell her?

He has a warm sentimental memory feeling for her (if that), but he isn't that into her, that's what this song is about.

Its a chill, mellow, song about not really caring about a girl.

Crazy, pretty much everyone else on this board thought it was a romantic song.

Definite Helen of Troy reference in the launched a thousand ships. Helen of Troy was "the face that launched a thousand ships", which started the Trojan war, which is now a brand of condom.

Maybe he doesn't want to get into a war with anyone over her.

To me, the line "nothing good comes easily, sometimes you got to fight", is probably the best line, because of the motivation involved with fighting for something special meaningful whatever. Which I guess is what needs to happen in high-risk-of-temptation type of relationships.

I find the line 'amber is the color of your energy, shades of gold displayed naturally' one of the best choruses I've heard. If a guy said that to me, I'd be his forever. This guy's a poet.

This song is so incredibly deep, the first time i heard it, it completely reminded me of the person who told me to listen to it...he is the most amazing guy in the world and i genuinely hope that what is said in the song is from him to me...
