Buckle Down Lyrics

Hah!
On the ice
No holdin’
My soul
I want men
Not mice
No stopping
My throw

Hah!
Get this!
Reds are
Back bills
Work
Or play ball
Or just turn me loose

I know what’s fight, in life, you better buckle down
Don’t give up your fight, in life, you better buckle down
Two days with might, in life, you better buckle down
Leave dreams tonight, in life, you better buckle down
‘Cos I know what’s right!

I know, I know, I know what’s right!
I know, I know, I know what’s right!
I know, I know, I know what’s right!
I know, I know, I know what’s right!

Mosesandliverbeans is right, the inspiration of this song mainly comes from a t-shirt Flea bought for AK while in Amsterdam. I think the red star and black fist is some sort of Soviet symbol (Maybe) or just something that is symbolic of organisation, buckling down, living withn the rules - which was characteristics of the Soviet Union anyways. In Scar Tissue, AK says that when they got the record deal he just wanted to "buckle down" and get the record out, maybe that was inspiration too.

Im really unfamilar with this song, but i read it and hear are my thoughts. To be blunt about it, Anthony doesn't want any pussies around him. I also think its about music executives trying to convince the peppers to change their image or their songs. Bottom line is that He doesn't want to be teathered to anyone else and is also trying to convince others about the way he feels. (2)

Wow... these lyrics are so wrong....

The song goes like this:

"Hot off the ice, no hole in my soul. We're men, not mice, No strumming my bow"

and then

"Red star, black fist"

and I'm pretty sure its "Live dreams tonight"

There's probably some other stuff wrong, but I don't have the booklet in front of me to check myself.

I love Buckle Down, especially the beginning. Yeah, I think it definitely has something to do with the shirt, as well as needing to "buckle down" and get the album done. Anyways, awesome song. Extremely funky!
