So Lonely Lyrics

Well someone told me yesterday
That when you throw your love away
You act as if you just don't care
You look as if you're going somewhere
But I just can't convince myself
I couldn't live with no one else
And I could only play that part
And sit and nurse my broken heart

So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so alone
So lonely
So lonely

Now no one's knocked upon my door
For a thousand years or more
All made up and nowhere to go
Welcome to this one man show
Just take a seat they're always free
No surprise, no mystery
In this theatre that I call my soul
I always play the starring role

So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so alone
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
I feel so lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
Lonely, I'm so lonely
I feel so alone
I feel alone
I feel so
I feel so alone
I feel alone, alone
I feel alone, alone, alone
I feel alone, alone, alone
I feel alone, alone, alone, alone, alone, alone
I feel alone, alone, alone
I feel alone, alone, alone
Alone, I feel alone
I feel alone
I feel alone
I feel so lonely
I feel so lonely
I feel so lonely, lonely, lonely, alone
Alone, alone, alone
I feel so lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely
So lonely

I think I understand the meaning of the song because I'm going through something similar. When someone breaks your heart, you push them away as far as you can and act like you don't care, but you're really in a lot of pain. Then after a while you may still not want that person, but then you realize nobody else is really on deck for you and you're left to feel lonely.

What the hell is your problem, dude from over a year ago? This is an awesome song. ...Probably the first modern punk rock song put on the radio...and it was released in the late 70's!!! A good, slow and fast song for the heartbroken to listen to.

This song makes me happy. Police used to be so baddass why does sting have to be such a boner now? I blew the speakers out on my mother's 1989 LeBarron with this song.

I saw them playing yesterday here, at the Santiago National Stadium (a 50.000 crowd). Amazing, perfect show. But when they where playing this song, Sting changed a portion of the lyrics. He replaced the line "Welcome to this one man show" for "Welcome to the Stewart Copeland show". I'm not really sure if Stewart appreciated the inclusion, as he kept looking him with a fixed expression while playing for the rest of the song. Could there be some interesting backstory here?

'So Lonely' is reggae, of course (the basic rhythm copped from Marley's 'No Woman No Cry'), that is, until Sting's painful wailings about his fate and his feelings climax in the frantic 'so lonely, so lonely...' refrain. And hey, is there anybody else out there who thinks that the last verse of the song, with Sting's rabid 'I feel so lonely... so lonely, lonely, lonely, lo...' is the greatest tension-building moment in the entire Police catalogue? No wonder Bob Marley himself appreciated the band; their being able to capture the reggae spirit so fine would suggest such an issue. [George Starostin]
