You see me crying
Don't let it get you down
You see me crying
I'm back to the lost and found

Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said
Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said

You see me crying
Say you're a ladies man
You see me crying
So hard to understand

Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said
Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said

You see me crying
Please say you'll stick around
And I got to be your lover, honey
Let me take you to town
And I'll show you everything that I Know
And I'll never gotta let you down
'Cause my love is like a merry go round

Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said
Honey, what you done to your head
Honey, what's the words that I said

I think it is a woman saying it to him. At first she is being manipulative saying don't seeing me crying ruin all your fun! Probably walking in on her lover. She saying that is all you have to say to me!?!? That now your some big shot and your now a ladies man?!? Don't you see me crying here.

But then she gets desperate. Then she says what do I have to do to keep you? "I can take you to town" aka I can be better than those girls! I just can't let you leave me.

But I have seen it also some guy has been away and his former flame is experimenting at least if not more with women. And he is upset and says you haven't done it right let me show you the works.

But I think it is a woman saying it to him. I think at one time they were in love or at least on one side and clearly there has never been a commitment or there was then he got an idea to play the field. "Do you remember the words that I said" probably were "I love you." She is saying what changed we were in love we were saying I love yous and now your seeing other people...or have always been?

a nice song, which, once aerosmith sobered up, Steven Tyler heard it playing in a club. "Who's this? We should cover it!" "it's us!" replied Joe Perry. Tyler was so wasted at the time of recording he'd forgotten about and the 101 piece orchestra he hired!

beautiful song I think it's not for a man, the line should be written like: You see me crying Say: "You're a ladies man" like he wants her but is in an relationship and she doesn't want to get the problems an affair produces. What I'll never understeand is the hair thing. I'm quite sure that's one of those personal stories that people will only understeand once Steven explains it

In their autobiography Walk This Way, its interesting to note that Joe Perry says they were always waiting on Steven to write the ballads...he was so messed up on drugs at this time in their career it ( the book) says he mostly threw these ballads together in like 10 minutes! Amazing...how good they are during that time!

This song was written when Joe Perry was in a relationship with Elissa and when tensions between him & Tyler started to grow....I think even though this song is written to be towards a girl...some of it is Stevens message to Joe.. He felt betrayed by Joe and didn't want him to leave the band for some girl.

I fell in love with Aerosmith in particularly Steven Tyler from the very young age. When walk this way came out I was 12 years old. I remember picking up the album at a local department store and looking at it and seeing the photo on the back. I fell in love with Steven Tyler in that moment, he was so androgynous and so beautiful. I knew in my little closeted transgender heart that I wanted to be like him. Cut to a couple years later when I was actually able to buy this album and I listen to it all the way through, songs like No More No More, Uncle Salty, And you see me crying resonated with me more than any of the others. I used to listen to this song, you see me crying with my headphones over and over, the lush orchestrations, the whaling guitar, and Stevens mournful plaintive cry, really stuck to me and got in my heart and stayed there forever. Some clarity on the lyrics. First of all guys, there's no mention of hair. The lyrics say "Honey what you done to your head? Honey what's the words I said" Steven Tyler is really big on a technique of lyric writing called rhyme scheming. Hair does not rhyme with said, sorry boys. Listen closely. You might also notice some tonal inflections that he uses, he doesn't actually pronounce word as wird (rhymes with bird), he says woid with a southie accent I felt in my young heart, that the song was him speaking to another guy. Maybe I was projecting, but I've learned something over the years and when you're doing drugs any closeted emotional or sexual issues that you may have will find a way to spill over one way or another. And if as the story goes Steven and the members of Aerosmith were strung out as legend hasn't, it may very well be that Stevens androgyny and ambiguous sexuality may have bled through into the lyrics. All I know is that I still suspect It was written for a guy and Stephen will never confirm nor deny because it's always better to leave things like this a mystery. We like mysteries, we like wondering, because each of us has things about us that we're not sure we can disclose publicly and so leaving a little bit of mystery around ourselves makes the magic a little bit more mysterious. Just my two cents, but I'm sticking to it. There's no sin here and there's no judgment. I'm transgender M2F and though I tend to prefer women I've met some beautiful men that I would be with in a heartbeat. Because love is love and if it helps you write a song like you see me crying, well I'd call that a blessing.

So this has been.my favorite song of OTEP's since it came out in 2004, and I always thought it was a song about a child's narrative of suffering in an abusive Christian home. But now that I am revisiting the lyrics, I am seeing something totally new. This song could be gospel of John but from the perspective of Jesus. Jesus was NOT having a good time up to and during the crucifixion. Everyone in the known world at the time looked to him with fear, admiration or disgust and he was constantly being asked questions. He spoke in "verses, prophesies and curses". He had made an enemy of the state, and believed the world was increasingly wicked and fallen from grace, or that he was in the "mouth of madness". The spine of atlas is the structure that allows the titan to hold the world up. Jesus challenged the state and in doing so became a celebrated resistance figure. It also made him public enemy #1. All of this happened simply because he was doing his thing, not because of any agenda he had or strategy. And then he gets scourged (storm of thorns) There are some plot holes here but I think it's an interesting interpretation.

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
