He certainly did earn that reputation.
Money talks
But it don't sing and dance and it don't walk
And long as I can have you here with me
I'd much rather be forever in blue jeans
Honey's sweet
But it ain't nothin' next to baby's treat
And if you'd pardon me, I'd like to say
We'd do okay forever in blue jeans
Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, by the fire
All alone, you and I
Nothing around but the sound
Of my heart and your sighs
Money talks
But it can't sing and dance and it can't walk
And long as I can have you here with me
I'd much rather be forever in blue jeans, babe
And honey's sweet
But it ain't nothin' next to baby's treat
And if you'll pardon me, I'd like to say
We'd do okay, forever in blue jeans
Maybe tonight
Maybe tonight, by the fire
All alone, you and I
Nothing around but the sound
Of my heart and your sighs
Money talks
But it don't sing and dance and it don't walk
And long as I can have you here with me

And if you'd pardon me, I'd like to say
We'd do okay forever in blue jeans, babe
And long as I can have you here with me

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.
As best I can interpret the song is simply saying that he would much prefer to have his loved one than be rich. A "money can't buy happiness/love" message.
The song meaning is that;
It is great to have money and it can be used to show off to everyone (that being money talks) but if to get it you have to hold down a career that would take you away from your true love then he would rather be forever in blue jeans ( Blue jeans being the symbol of a manual worker) without alot of money but living a simpler life with his love, going out singing and dancing because he would be happier without the money and getting to spend each night with the love of his life.
In short money isn't everything and blue jeans is the representation of a manual labourer.
This song makes me want to hear Red and Blue Jeans by The Promise Ring. I think that's what this song means.
I know of this lady who tells me she meet Neil Diamond while she was at the Holiday Inn with some friends from college in the mid 70's and she and Neil Diamond spent the evening talking about various things including blue jeans. She claims that many things in this song came from their conversation.
Neil Diamond wrote this song after he killed a drifter to get an erection.
@Bulldog01b Not funny; not even clever. At least now, everyone knows you\'re a loser.
what?
Few people know that Neil Diamond is fueled creatively by his massive hatred of immigrants
