We're buying and selling your history
How we go about it is no mystery
You check it with the city, then change the law
Are you looking forward?
Now you want some more

We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping

It's easy when you got all the information
Inside help, no investigation
(No investigation, investigation)
No questions in the house, no give and take
There's a big bang in the city
We're all on the make

We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping
We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping

Our gain is your loss, that's the price you pay
I heard it in the House of Commons: everything's for sale

We're shopping
We're shopping

We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping
We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping

Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah
Ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah ah, ah ah

We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping
We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping

We're shopping
We're shopping
We're shopping
We're shopping
We're shopping

NO - This was actually written during the sell off of British Gas and Telecom into the private sector. The government were saying how it would be definitely for everyone's benefit, particularly as Joe P would be able to buy a slice. What they didn't tell us is that we would be buying into their troubles as well, and that the price of shares can go down as well as up....

I see this as a song about "shopping" for information. I have often thought of Actually (the album this song comes from) as an album story about criminals, and this is one of the episodes where they are "Shopping" for people's private information.....theyre basically fraudsters.
