He certainly did earn that reputation.
Da da da, da da dumb dumb da
Da da da, da da dumb dumb da
If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love, from me to you
I've got everything that you want
Like a heart that's oh so true
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love, from me to you
I've got arms that long to hold you
And keep you by my side
I've got lips that long to kiss you
And keep you satisfied (oh)
If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love, from me to you
From me
To you
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love, from me to you
I've got arms that long to hold you
And keep you by my side
I've got lips that long to kiss you
And keep you satisfied (oh)
If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love, from me to you
To you
To you

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.
The Night We Met

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
I love this song. If there's a way how to show a girl you really love her, then the beatles knew how to. Really brilliant song.
on stage, they changed the lyrics in from us to you, clever.
Repeatative but catchy...I mean, "Yesterday" is one of their best, and it repeats the same thing twice...
A good classic.
I LOVE this song! If I'm not mistaken, it's their 3rd single in UK.
Wow, dylanthomas, where did they do that. Very clever. And I'm not really surprised. I wish I can be as clever as The Beatles, but I'm not that bad at being clever really.
Haha, great song by changing "us to you" - now THAT is impressive...
This song is classic...it makes me smile every time I hear it. :)
In the early days, the Beatles would get fan mail from young girls telling them they felt like when the Beatles were singing, they were singing to them personally.
Picking up on this, Lennon and McCartney wrote a lot of songs with "me" and "you" pronouns. "From Me to You" was the ultimate capitalization on this. Bascially, it is a thank you message to their fans.
John and Paul wrote this when the Beatles were on the Helen Shapiro tour. They began by trading lines back and forth, so they built this one totally from scratch. The title was suggested by "From You To Us" a column in the "NME".
Surprised none of the comments have been about the song's (and group's) incredibly ballsy, subversive sexual overtones in the early days (this is 1964). "I've got lips that long to kiss you / And keep you satisfied Ooh" is obviously a sophisticated, sly reference to cunnilingus. At the time, the guys got it but the girls, not so much. Their early work is filled with stuff like this. It's actually pretty sexist which is why I find self-proclaimed feminists who profess such love for The Beatles so confusing and a bit odd.
