I'm dreaming of sleeping next to you
I'm feeling like a lost little boy in a brand new town
I'm counting my sheep and
each one that passes is another dream to ashes
and they all fall down

And as I lay me down tonight
I close my eyes, what a beautiful sight

I'm sleeping to dream about you
I'm so damn tired of having to live without you
But I, I don't mind
I'm sleeping to dream about you, I'm so tired

Oh, yes I am

I found myself in the riches your eyes, your lips, your hair
you were everywhere, out there
But I woke up in the ditches
I hit the light and I thought you might be here
but you were nowhere
Oh, love, you were nowhere at home

And as I lay me back to sleep
This love I pray that I can keep

Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so damn tired of having to live without you
But I, I don't mind
I'm sleeping to dream about you, I'm so tired

This is just a little a lullaby
to keep myself from crying myself
A little lullaby to keep, keep
My eyes from always crying
This is just a little lullaby
I'm trying to keep myself from fall asleep, sleep
It's just a little lullaby
So I don't cry myself to sleep at night

Sleeping to dream about you
I'm so damn tired of having to live without you
But I, I don't mind
I'm sleeping to dream about you, I'm so tired
I'm so tired
I'm so tired

This is such a beautiful song. It explains my new sleeping addiction perfectly.

To me, it means one of two things:

    1) A long distance relationship 2) Someone you like too much and you wish you could sleep next to them, but you can't...and you dream about them..and the only way you can be with them is in your dreams.

I'm 100% the lyrics go "and I'm so damn tired of having to live without you" all the lyric sites that i've been to forget the damn, and the and. For shame. I've seen him live too and I agree that he is soo better live! Especially since he has an awesome personality to go along with his amazing voice. I think this is about any relationship where you have to live without the person. That could be a long distance relationship, or a person who doesn't love you back. In my mind it could also be about a person that you aren't living without litterally but you feel separated from them for some reason, even though they are there it seems like they're not? I dunno. I wish Jason Mraz would sing the whole "as I lay me down tonight" bit to me while going to bed! It'd make the awesomest lullaby everrrrrr.

A thought on my part, Could the song be about someone who died? the But I woke up in the ditches. I hit the light and I thought you might be here but you were nowhere. You were nowhere at home. adds to that, I think, because if someone you loved died, and you had a dream about that person, then woke up and remembered, then might you not want to belive when you wake up that that was part of the dream?

I dunno. Maybe I'm just stupid. But I think it's a valid idea. Though all of the pre-mentioned ones seemed to work pretty well as well.

Well to answer a previous comment, the back up singer is Toca Rivera. Jason mentions him tons on his live CD and everywhere else, he also plays a special type of drum, the name escapes me.

I think a lot of people are saying this song reminds them of a long distance relationship. I can believe it but, for me it reminds me of an ex gf that I would love to be with but, just cant. In your dreams you can dream of being together but everytime your awake you are forced to live life without them. "Im so tired of having to live without you." It means in our dreams is that place we can go and forget the facts that you are not with the one you love. Thats just me

This song reminds me of something that's going on in my life write now. I think he's thinking about someone who he can't be with. Possibly a long distance relationship? I love this song.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
