I have a secret place inside my mind
where I keep hidden inspiration you will find.
And when my petty anger goes to my head
you'll find I'm better off dead.
Oh and I don't hold the key
to find out what is killing me its
been so long but somehow i just still care
I am a Romeo am a Romeo with no place to go

Sometimes I think you hate me hang up the phone
but take a closer look this hate I feel is my own.
So many times I've loved you, more than myself,
it's time to take that love and put it on the shelf.
Oh, and when I hold you tight,
it makes me want to scream and fight.
Love turned to hate,
some how it's just, how it's just,
how it's just to late.

I am a Romeo, am a Romeo with no place to go

Rock the reggae music, 'cause it sounds so fine, right!
When I hold you tight, in my arms you are mine,
but in the morning when I wake up and I still feel the same,
I know something goin on and I know who's to blame.
Everytime I tell you I'm the real Romeo,
it fills my soul and heart with anger, pain, and sorrow.
'cause' somthings going on and I think you should know,
so listen to my rhyme, 'cause this is how it goes:

In a tight mini short in a short mini skirt,
it feels so wrong and it feels so right.
the more I think about it you're a pain in the ass,
I told you many times, this time it's gonna last.
Want the kind of woman who can make me feel right,
not sloppy drunk sex on a Saturday night. 'cause,

I am a Romeo, am a Romeo with no place to go

Pull up your honey if you gotta one see,
because your down with the style, 'cause your down with me. oh,
rig the selector when your on the mixer,
along with Peter Mitchell upon the echo chamber. Two, one,
no they must see but no, they can't test me.
Two, three of them come and say you can't test me.
Because me rock the reggae music in a different stylee.
Me rock the kinda reggae music right on time, because your down with the
band that they call Sublime, right?

Don't take it too slow, don't take me wrong,
me know which way to go, me, me, me, me alright,
me rock the reggae music day and all night.

Makes you want to explode,
makes me want to explode,
makes me want to explode,
makes you want to explode,
sometimes it makes you want to explode.

I'm really surprised that they didn't release this song on any of their first 3 albums. This one and Trenchtown Rock. I know TTR was supposed to be on 40 oz., but there wasn't enough room on the CD/cassette. This song should have been on 40 oz, but it wasn't, so they threw it on SHS. It's definitely a great song and has the feel of Roots of Creation at the end, plus a little Don't Push. It's a shame Brad had to die, because now there's Mr. Sellout Rome running the band, and I could never see him create anything close to this, or any Sublime song for that matter. He's a fat douchebag who is only in it for the money. And it seems to have paid off really well for him. He's got a solo career as well now. He very well could end being the next Justin Bieber. ;)

yeah, this song is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. the sound quality's kinda whack, but hell it kinda makes the song all the more mind-blowing - this guy should have been making millions, on the cover of rolling stone, interviews on vh1... not that that's what he was all about, but he definitely deserved it more than half these fucking horrible run-of-the-mill bands that i hear on the radio these days. gheeeze. bradley is simply brilliant on this track... great lyrics, some of his best guitar work, and the vocals at the end make it impossible not to bob your head. fuckin' eh... no disrespect to kurt but bradley was the brightest musical talent of the nineties IMO, and it's not even close.

this song is so damn good. i'm gonna stop saying one song's my favorite by sublime though, cause i've said that for like 3 of their other songs, and my favorite changes weekly. but this song really does rock. the second verse is pure lyrical genius.

He's idealized this woman to be his "juliet", but his perfect relationship exists only in his head. He's beginning to realize that it's fake and each one of them living in a different reality drives them crazy.

I think he enjoyed a relationship with a girl but to ralationship was based on a dirty way of life.

Want the kind of woman who can make me feel right, not sloppy drunk sex on a Saturday night, cuz.

This was a contradiction with the way of thinking of reggae music.. Love and respect. And in the morning he felt guilty to see he is not true to himself.. "Rock the reggae music, cuz it sounds so fine, right! When I hold you tight, in my arms you are mine, but in the morning when I wake up and I still feel the same"

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
