Slightly bemused by his lack of direction
Hey You Hey You
Chooses his clothes to match his pallid complexion
Hey You Hey You
Brought to this world by cesarean section
Hey You Hey You
Now it takes him all day just to get an erection

Hey You
Things aren't what they seem
Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Things aren't what they seem
Luxemburger Queen
He's a Burger Queen

Goes out to cruise and to meet his connection
Hey You, Hey You
He never scores he just gets his injection
Hey You, Hey You
Hey You, Hey You
Still it takes him all day just to get an erection
Hey You

Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Things aren't what they seem
Makes no sense at all
Luxemburger Queen
He's a Burger Queen

Slightly bemused by the constant rejection
Hey You, Hey You
Came to this world by cesarean section
Hey You, Hey You
Dreams of a face that is pure as perfection
Hey you, Hey you

Things aren't what they seem
Luxemburger Queen
Luxemburger Queen
Luxemburger Queen
He's a Burger Queen

What Brian has said live before playing this song: "This is song about being gay, on drugs and goth in Luxembourg." Luxembourg 1999

"I lived in Luxembourg for a number of years. Take my word for it, don't go to Luxembourg, just drive through. This song's about being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

"A long, long way from here is a place called Luxembourg. And there lives a very very sad guy. This is a song about being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

From an article (The life and loves of a he/she-devil - Select, April 1997): "It's been a long day and, at the end of it, Placebo have decided to ditch their mime artists. Brian Molko is much relieved and takes this as a cue to talk about Placebo's next direction. He's just written a song called 'Burger Queen' - about being a gay goth heroin addict in Luxembourg.

"It's really the worst you could ever be. A goth, gay and on smack in the worst place, Luxembourg. It's so sad.""

I've heard that this song is about a gothic, heroin addicted, homosexual in Luxemburg. I remember Brian saying that is the worst thing to be there. The "gothic" part of it is when it says, "Chooses his clothes to match his pallid complexion" Pallid means really light or pale. The drug and homosexual part of it is obvious. If you really think about the lyrics you can really put it all together.

Cmon people! Its obvious this song is about a gay guy - its called burger QUEEN for gawds sake! I dont know if that means the same thing in america but in england thats slang for gay people. Its about the stereotypes people have of homosexuals - references to infections and dress sense. Total rejection aswell - coming onto a straight guy?

this song is brilliant - I think is about a kid (male)depressed, lost and confused, so I guess goth, gay and depressed fits the profile - although I did relate to this song at times so I kind of feel dirty now (I'm not gay), but what smacks of irony is I used to think "if people started thinking I was gay, I would relate to this perfectly" (I knew what the 'queen' reference meant, but I always thought of it as other people saying it - 'he's a burger queen', the song seems to be someone describing the person its about) , and not too long after everyone started saying I was gay for no partiuclar reason, some people said I looked gay, but I don't do anytihng to indicate I'm gay or at least thats how I see it, and when I look in the mirror I see a guy far from gay. I guess its just mroe fule to the fire of my hate for everyone.

Rated 0 i think it suits best with your comment ladyboygrrl cos molko is gay and lived in luxemburg i think he describes his or her feelings caesarean section--- molkos's birth Chooses his clothes to match his pallid complexion she has old clothes dressed like youngdays black, and looking unsecure i saw his old picture dressed like this hey you may be -------- she talks to her lover she has same heroin addiction and also burgen quen too.

Now it takes him all day just to get an erection-- gays you know hardly get erection

Things aren't what they seem: -we think and see people and argue about them but actually -Makes no sense at all it is silly judging gays, they are sensitive and broken.........

Goes out to cruise and to meet his connection- may be make love with lover

He never scores he just gets an infection cos he is gay desribes himself or one close gay friends of him

Dreams of a place with a better selection he always dreams place better to go better to do finally he succeded

Still it takes him all day just to get an erection--- so you know gays and heroin and so

so totally it desribes a gay and his lover

music so much melancholy in it and may be molko thougt about her ex- love at luxemburg and dedicated the song burger quen-luxemburger quen- perfect
