Believe In What You Want Lyrics

Don't bother going through your motions.
Nothing that makes sense ever works out.
Don't kid yourself, you know they want money.
Nothing can be good on its own merit.
Put your trust in simple acts.
Make the flyers get them up all over town.
Don't kid yourself, you know they want money.
Please keep in sight what makes you care.
You have it always.
Spinning and spinning.
Dancing in plastic, shake-up snow.
Do you believe in what you want?
Your camera flash.
On us, meaningless.
You cannot waste a single night.
What you ignore is priceless to me.

personally, i can't see how anyone can distinguish between favorites on clarity, but that's just me ;) the entire cd is incredible to me, the jim is saying that the world is so incredibly materialistic and shallow that the things of true beauty and worth mean nothing to the masses. that being said, he goes on to say that what is truly beautiful is still important, especially to the people closest to you. no matter what the world does, how it acts, or how it treats you, the things that make you a special person are the most important things you can do and have; in the chorus it seems he's telling you to examine yourself, and make sure you define yourself by things that make YOU happy, not everyone else...real people will notice that i think the last line(s), especially "what you ignore is priceless to me", is meant for the fake people that make up most of the world

it seems to me like it's about someone who was getting caught up in material stuff..not being him/herself. out of touch with what really matters.

I think they're just saying don't forget what you care about. I agree with Not Blond about this person getting caught up in material things. He just wants them not to get caught up in everything because the cameras are flashing and they're important.

This is my 2nd favourite song on Clarity. I absolutely love it!! For me it's one of those songs that makes me angry in a good way. The material-things idea makes a lot of sense. Anyway, I love this song and I have adopted 'Nothing that makes sense ever works out' as my philosophy. Yay Jimmy!!

When I listen to this song the DIY part stands out to me the most. I think it's just about how Capitol wouldn't help them out as much as they needed, esp in promoting areas and such. Maybe that's why he's saying you gotta do it all yourself, and all this "plastic, shake up snow" is plain bull and fake.

i think this song talks about never really selling out and giving up your principles for money or material things... and to appreciate the work you are doing.
