Ten Lyrics

We left behind the busy crowd.
So it seems we slow down.
Meet me with a way out through the lies.
Nowhere, going nowhere in the fake yellow light.
The feelings change so fast.
Safety scares them away.
I can't bring myself to say it's my own advice I need.
Nowhere and then nowhere.
Living trapped inside the chase.
Our weekness is the same.
We need poison sometimes.
So take another drink with me.
Blame no one.
Look in my eyes and blame no one.

In my opinion he is in a relationship, yet his partner just lies about things to get away with her thoughts and actions. "Meet me with a way out through the lies." He is saying to just tell her the truth with no lies, which the truth im guessing is she wants to end the relationship. Since the feelings change so fast, she is afraid to tell him the truth, because she does not want things to change, she is feeling safe with what she has, even though she does not want that.So he says "Look in my eyes and blame no one." as in, do not tell white lies and blames to tell me what you want to say. Just tell me truthfully and straightforwardly.

i think this song is talking about old friends that have drifted and they meet again looking to hold onto to something that just isn't there anymore.

I think this song is about a guy who doesn't know where to take his relationship. It seems that he and his girlfriend are now at the point where they are beginning to settle down, and they have lost the fire with which they began their relationship. They are probably kidding themselves that they still love each other as deeply as they once did, "MEET ME WITH A WAY THROUGH OUT THE LIES; NOWHERE GOING NOWHERE IN THE FAKE YELLOW LIGHT." It also sounds like the guy knows what he has to do, but he is so caught up in the comfort of just having a relationship that he doesn't want to break it all off. And at the end of the song, he is just being blunt and asking his partner to join him in bitting the bullet and calling the whole thing off.

i just read an interview saying that this is Tom (the guitarist/vocalists)'s favourite song on 'Clarity'. Has he not heard the rest of the album?

@xpankfrisst it\'s a great album as a whole. Strangely I\'m with Tom on this one. It has been my favorite song for a decade or so. In a lot of ways it feels like the resolution to the uncertainty and thoughts of the rest of the album. There is something pure and honest in refrain of "blame no one" that echoes the death of a relationship. Relationships end in fire or ice, but it tends to always fall to this in the end. It doesn\'t matter who is to blame, it\'s is over and that is the only thing...

ummm... i'm not exactly sure what this song is about... but for some reason. i just have a feeling it's not about a relationship. jimmy eat world isn't one of those bands that only talks about romantic relationships. thats the way i take it anyways. clarity is wonderful album becuase it is so open to interpretation. it's easily the best album i own

this song is about escapism through alcohol. it seems to think that drink kills all the shit the day has produced. i think he suspects he shouldn't be drinking, but he does anyway because it makes him feel better. but i think all the drinking does is make him realise that he is the one at fault for all the things that trouble him. he must "blame no one" as he realises that only he can help himself out. anyways, that's what i think...
