How can I convince you
What you see is real?
Who am I to blame you
For doubting what you feel?
I was always reachin'
You were just a girl I knew
I took for granted
The friend I had in you

I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Now I look into your eyes
I can see forever
The search is over
You were with me all the while

Can we last forever?
Will we fall apart?
At times, it's so confusing
The questions of the heart
You followed me through changes
And patiently you'd wait
'Til I came to my senses
Through some miracle of fate

I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Now I look into your eyes
I can see forever
The search is over
You were with me all the while

Now the miles stretch out behind me
Loves that I have lost
Broken hearts lie, victims of the game
Then good luck, it finally struck
Like lighting from the blue
Every highway's leading me back to you

Now at last, I hold you
Now all is said and done
The search has come full circle
Our destinies are one
So if you ever loved me
Show me that you give a damn
You'll know for certain
The man I really am

I was living for a dream
Loving for a moment
Taking on the world
That was just my style
Then I touched your hand
I could hear you whisper
The search is over
Love was right before my eyes

Cheezy song if you grew up in the 80's, yet as one gets older, the lyrics make more sense.

It's about finding the one that completes you for your life.

Great song now that I'm older.. younger, I definitely changed the dial...

This song is very symbolic to me of people finding true love in the least expected places.

I think this is a great power ballad. Singer Jim Jamison's voice really stands out on this one.

This was the first song I ever slow-danced to when I was 13. I still love it. Isn't the line, "good luck it finally struck like lightning from the blue?"

This song opened my eyes about Survivor. They're so much more than just Eye of the Tiger. One of my favorite love songs and something I have to sing whenever it comes on.

One of the best power ballads of the 80's.

    My Interpretation

Even though this was made in the 80s, way before 1992, I think it was prophetic of a future TV show starring a man searching for the truth with a woman who was the truth all along.

Every time I listen to this song it reminds me of my best friend, we met when we were both single and searching, we quickly became best friends and stayed together thru good loves and bad loves we both experienced, unfortunately we realized too late that the one thing we were both searching for was right in front of us all along.

Reminds me of an old boyfriend things didn't work out but always brings back the memories of him. Cause for me the search was over.
