Pretty Tied Up Lyrics

I know this chick she lives down on Melrose
She ain't satisfied without some pain
Friday night is goin' up inside her... again
Well crack the whip
'Cause that bitch is just insane
I'm serious
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
She's pretty tied up an you can ride her
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
I can't tell you she's the right one
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Once there was this rock n' roll band
Rollin' on the streets
Time went by and it became a joke
We just needed more and more fulfilling -
uh-huh
Time went by and it all went up in smoke
But check it out
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
She's pretty tied up an you can ride her
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
I can't tell you she's the right one
Oh no, oh no, oh no
Once you made that money it costs more now
It might cost a lot more than you'd think
I just found a million dollars
that someone forgot
It's days like this that push me o'er the brinks
Cool and stressing
(pronounced: kool ranch dres'ing)
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
She's pretty tied up an you can ride her
She's pretty tied up hangin' upside down
I can't tell you she's the right one
Oh she's the right one... (etc.)
(But I can tell you a thing or two
'bout somethin' else
If you really wanna know-know what I'm sayin')

this song is about a chick that was into bondage...that seems obvious. and apparently she charged more everytime.

I think we can safely presume that bud was laughing at the irony of singing that they "became a joke line" in light of what then followed because for a band who are already a joke to say that they are isn't actually funny

anyway, not all of this song was written about their pre-success days - the final verse makes reference to an alleged incident when a drug-addled Izzy was complaining that he was broke and then found a $900,000 Appetite royalty cheque that he'd forgotten to cash in his pocket

also - its fairly obvious that only the first verse and chorus are about the girl - most people's comments seem to ignore half of the lyrics

I don't get why everyone is so literal here... what actually happened/inspired the lyrics, and what it's actually about, are two very different things.

This is in a way Stradlin's way of saying "I've had enough - I need to get out". He's taking the absurdity of the domniatrix event and mapping to the absurdity of rock 'n roll excess and what it's done to him and the band.

"Time went by and it became a joke We just needed more and more fulfilling"

If he wrote this while on heroin, it was probably around the time he decided he needed to clean. Which he did - and subsequently left the band.

"Once you made that money it costs more now It might cost a lot more than you'd think"

Definitely not a happy, joking thought here.

"I just found a million dollars that someone forgot"

Notice the 3rd person observation - he's making a distinction between his sober moment (the person who found the check) and drugged out self (the person who had lost it for months in a daze).

"It's days like this that push me o'er the brinks"

Days being moments of clarity where you realize you're in a bad place.

^^^

Sorry bud, but how could they be writing about something that was going on in 95-96 when the album was released in September of 91.

YEAHHHH!

By the way, Izzy Stradlin wrote that about GNR because of Axl taking over the band

thats what it really means

@GNR1234 he meant 86, they weren't playing in shitty clubs in 96 they fell apart by then

True story. Izzy tells about the S&M girl he knew who lived on Melrose. You have to interpret this? C'mon! Great song.

i think its about the early days of G'nr amd all of the stuff that happend to them

Definitely sounds like a woman into BDSM and whatnot, and it also seems to accurately predict what would become of GNR. Either way, it's a catchy tune. Good chorus.

izzy choked on his own cock in the early days that's why he left gnr to form izzy and the ju-ju cocks
