Take it for what it's worth, my birth was a blessing
Sent to live and die, on earth as a lesson
We each have a star, all we have to do is find it
Once you do, everyone who sees it will be blinded (what?)
They'll tell you that you're bright, and say you have a future
When you turn your back, same cats'll try to shoot ya
Niggas ain't shit, I can live on both sides of the fence
Forget what you do, when you talk, see what you really meant (aight?)
That's what I thought, them niggas was bluffin' (uh)
They talk all day but say, nothin (uh)
It gets so dark (what?) the pain's so intense
Since this first rain it's like it's rained ever since (what?)
Never got paid for a rhyme but I flow (whoo)
Never got a plate on time but I grow (whoo)
Live your life, stay on the line but I go (uh)
Went from doin' crime to bein' kind 'cause I know

I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie
I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie

What is about who I am that makes me unforgettable (hmm)
What it is about what I've done that makes it so incredible (uh)
"More money, more problems" well the fame was worse (uh-huh)
I reached out for love and what came back was thirst (what?)
Blessed with the curse (uh) niggas don't hear me
Niggas don't hear me, y'all niggas, don't hear me (uh)
What'd I just say? "niggas don't hear you!" see that?
You gots to feel me to catch what I'm sayin, believe that (uh)
But leave that, alone (what?)
We gon' make a nigga wanna be at, your home (what?)
Oh, you kinda quiet with the heat at, your dome (uh)
If the dog got he's gonna bring back a bone
'Cause we got the chrome (c'mon)
This is what I live for, or die for
I'm the nigga with the high score, you try for
What you niggas wanna lie for? It changes nothin'
I'm true for cats, its some strangers bluffin'

I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie
I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie

Now if I take what he gave me and I, use it right (uh-huh)
In other words if I listen and, use the light (uh-huh)
Then what I say will remain here, after I'm gone
Still here, on the strength of a song, I live on (hmm)
No second-guessin' on what I stood for, I was good for
Stoppin niggas from killin' each other in the hood war (uh)
Comin through showin' love, throwin' up (uh)
Them cats not throwin' love, you know whassup (what?)
Dark man baby, that's my name
And I gots to be the realest nigga (uh) up in this game
'Cause ain't no shame, they don't make 'em like, this no more
Real to the core, big heart but built for war
I stand for what I believe in
Even if what I believe in stops me from breathin'
Relatives grievin', but I ain't went nowhere
Listen to the song (c'mon) I'm right there

I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie
I'm gon' live forever, I'm never gon' die
Only thing I fear is that I'm never gon' fly
Carry my weight but I'm never gon' cry
Shit I think a nigga straight 'cause I'm never gon' lie

i don't know how to react to this song. I can't see a whole lot of meaning. Except the allusion to life. He says that we are all born to live and die, if someone doesn't shoot you first.

Alright, for you two dumbasses that can't even comprehend what this song is all about, I'll spell it out for you. DMX is to the point, he tells you what hes all about it this song. People think all rappers are thugs, but if you've ever actually listened to DMX before you can understand hes doing what hes doing to help the youth of america. To begin w/, he starts talking about how everyone is unique (we each have a star), and to be successful in life, "all we have to do is find it". The line "Everyone who sees it will be blinded" refers to jealousy and amazement by people around him. He goes on to warn that the people that tell you you have a future and then turn their backs on you because its too hard to continue don't mean shit to him, becuase they'd rather take the easy way out. The struggle can be seen in the line "It gets dark, haze so intense." When he talks about the fence, i think hes saying hes been a thug and a responsible person, and he knows that the thug life is nothing (niggas aint shit).
The last 4 lines are pretty self explainatory, just how he was persistent to succeed because he believes in god (cause i know).

THe chorus is about him believing in the afterlife, and as long as he stays the course of doing good and fears god (only thing i fear is that im never gonna fly), he'll make it, no matter the pain (carry my weight but im never gonna cry) because he knows that the final goal (heaven) will be worth it.

The next whole paragraph is about how once he got fame, people began wanting him to support them instead of them getting their own, and the only way to understand what hes saying is to understand him.

THe next paragraph tells how nobody will take him down ( THis is what I live for, or die for)- hes willing to die for what he has now cause he feels hes earned it. THen he goes on to talk about how people are willing to tell themselves their happy living the thug life becuase theyre unwilling to try to get what he has, even though they want it.

THe last paragraph is about how if he takes what GOd gave him and uses it right, he will be respected for what hes trying to do, even after hes gone, which was, like i said earlier, to protect the youth and guide them. The last lines are self explainatory.... LISTEN TO HIS LYRICS, because he knows whats up.

Also, the line "Im gonna live forever, I'm never gonna die" is DMX saying how his fame and what hes teaching will go on forever, correlating again w/ the last stanza (I was good foor stoppin niggaz from killin each other in the hood war)

This is probably my favorite song ever. It basically just says to be strong, love God and go to work. Caucasianjigga nailed it perfectly.

Now I'm a country loving red neck son of a bitch, and this is one of the best songs I've heard in a long ass time.

    Lyric Correction

    Some corrections IMO,

1.) "What'd I just say? "Nigga g'head" - you see that?" should be "What'd I just say? "Niggaz don't hear you" - you see that?". Read the lyrics before to see if it makes sense.

2.) "If the dog got he's gonna bring back a bone" should be "Let the dog out he's gonna bring back a bone"

As for the meaning its pretty straightforward. A tupac-ish metaphor of him living on forever through his music (Relatives grievin, but I ain't went nowhere/Listen to the song (C'MON) I'm right there).

As for being afraid that he's "never gon' fly", that's basically what his point was in "Let Me Fly", which is that he'd rather die than not shine (see lyrics for "Let Me Fly" for more info).
