This song makes me think of a couple in a long-distance relationship. They spend the weekend together at his place, but she goes home on Monday, maybe after he's gone to work. He comes home to find that she's gone again. They repeat the same pattern every week. The other days of the week, he's OK because he's looking forward to the next weekend...but Mondays he's sad because she's just left.

It's probably not what John Phillips had in mind when he wrote the song, but that's what I think of when I hear it.

Ugh...I had that kind of relationship many years ago before I broke up with him and married someone else a little over a year later. There is nothing good about distance! As for the song, I love it. It's simple yet catchy.
