The group released their first mixtape All-American Trash in 2016. Their debut album SATURATION was released on June 9, 2017, followed by SATURATION II on August 25 and SATURATION III on December 15, 2017. On March 30, 2018, BROCKHAMPTON announced that they had signed a record deal under RCA Records.
In the summer of 2018, the group parted ways with vocalist Ameer Vann over accusations of sexual misconduct. Their album which was set for release, titled Puppy, was thrown out after the incident. Three tracks from the album were reworked and released over subsequent weeks throughout the summer, including “1999 Wildfire”, “1998 Truman” and “1997 Diana”
On September 21, 2018, the boyband released their fourth studio album, Iridescence, recorded in London's iconic Abbey Road Studios over ten days. It was their major-label debut, as well as their first album since Ameer Vann's departure following sexual misconduct allegations.
The album marked BROCKHAMPTON's first number-one album, as the album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart. The album sold 101,000 copies in its first week and was released just weeks before the band embarked on their first tour without ex-member Ameer.
BROCKHAMPTON returned in 2019 which a string of singles, “I Been Born Again”, “If You Pray Right”, “Boy Bye”, and “No Halo”. GINGER is the fifth studio album by American hip-hop collective Brockhampton. It was released on August 23, 2019, through the band's label Question Everything and RCA. It features slowthai, Deb Never, and the band's members.
2020 was the first year since 2016 that they did not officially release a project; instead, Brockhampton began streaming weekly on Twitch and Instagram to DJ and premiere new songs, which would also be posted to and deleted from their YouTube channel regularly. However, none of these songs were officially released on streaming services due to challenges with sample clearance. This era was dubbed "TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES".
In 2021, BROCKHAMPTON returned with their sixth album, Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, released on April 9th. The singles for the album included “Buzzcut” and “Count On Me”. The album included features from Danny Brown, JPEGMAFIA, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, SoGone SoFlexy, Charlie Wilson and Baird.
On January 14, 2022, the band announced that they would no longer be performing as a group and would go on indefinite hiatus after their 2022 Coachella performances. On April 16, 2022, during the first of said Coachella performances, BROCKHAMPTON announced a final album that would arrive the same year. The title of this album, The Family, was revealed in late October, and the album was released on November 17, 2022. However, the band announced another surprise follow-up album TM that would release the following day, November 18, 2022.

Yeah, yeah
All my days I waste my days, I'm gettin' high, I tell these niggas, "Go"
Yeah, yeah
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
Day one, day two, and they change up like a mothafucka, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more
Baby, I know that the soul is gone forever and for power and respect
I need somethin' for myself, now I need somethin' to protect
Ain't the one you wanna check but you committed to correct
I been good for momma and I ain't even have it, you can check
I put money on my niggas just so they could call collect
Let me be the one you go to when you want it to connect
Always more than meets the eye, nothin' here you could expect
Everybody swear they know you, got no clue, I'd rather guess, yo
Give me the light and I'ma let these niggas on something that they should know
Yeah, yeah
All my days I waste my days, I'm gettin' high, I tell these niggas, "Go"
Yeah, yeah
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out, reach out, reach out
I've said, gone with the wind again (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Stargazin' and the days never take offense (no, no, no)
Thin skin turn thick, scar tissue, man
Be the bigger man, I'm the bigger man (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Big bag drew blood in self-defense (no, no, no)
Patched up, go up and down again
Time spent, don't bend like these rubber bands
Had to take a stand, I stay on the fence
I don't wanna throw hands, that was never my plan
I was tryna get right
You ain't have to do that, I might have to fall back
Gotta go and get mine
Nigga, goodbye, goodbye to all those troubled nights
I'm down to feel alright, I need to feel alright
Nigga, goodbye, goodbye to all those troubled nights (it don't mean nothin')
I'm down to feel alright, I need to feel alright (it's always somethin')
Give me the light and I'ma let these niggas on something that they should know
Yeah, yeah
All my days I waste my days, I'm gettin' high, I tell these niggas, "Go"
Yeah, yeah
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
On my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out
Reach out some more, reach out, reach out, reach out
The lyrics to "ALWAYS SOMETHING" by BROCKHAMPTON touch on several themes, including personal growth, navigating relationships, and the need for self-validation. The song explores the artist's experiences and emotions as they strive to find their place in the world and maintain their sense of self.
In the first verse, the artist asserts their confidence and desire to share their knowledge and experiences with others. They want to shed light on important truths and let others know what they should be aware of. The repetition of "on my neck, ayy, icing on my neck, ayy" could be seen as a metaphor for the artist's success and the material possessions that come with it. However, the constant change and shifting dynamics of relationships are also highlighted, with references to the fluctuating loyalty and support of others.
The second verse delves deeper into the artist's personal struggles and the importance of self-preservation. They acknowledge that the soul may be lost, but they still need something to protect and prioritize their own well-being. The artist reminisces about their journey and how they have supported their loved ones, even when they didn't have much. They position themselves as a reliable figure for others to turn to when they need a connection.
The repetition of "reach out some more" emphasizes the artist's willingness to extend a hand to others, further emphasizing their desire for connection. The lyrics also touch on the idea that people often make assumptions about who someone is, but they don't truly understand them. This uncertainty and lack of understanding prompts the artist to prefer guessing about others instead.
In the final verse, the artist addresses the challenges they have faced and the growth they have undergone. They describe themselves as being able to rise above troubled nights and seek a sense of positivity and fulfillment. The line "I was tryna get right" highlights their desire for personal improvement and finding a sense of peace. However, the artist acknowledges that growth does not come without its struggles, expressing a reluctance to engage in conflict or throwing punches. They strive for a harmonious resolution and to stay on the metaphorical fence. The closing lines express the artist's desire to move on from past troubles and seek a sense of inner peace.
Overall, "ALWAYS SOMETHING" explores personal growth, the challenges of maintaining relationships, and the quest for self-validation and fulfillment. It delves into the complexities of human interactions and the artist's journey to find their place in the world.
