Uma Thurman
fall out boy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can work a miracle, work a miracle
Oh, oh, keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us part
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
Bury me till I confess
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
The stench, the stench, of summer sex
And CK eternity, oh hell yes
Divide me down to the smallest I can be
Put your, put your venom in me
I can move mountains
I can work a miracle, work a miracle
Oh, oh, I keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us part
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
Bury me till I confess
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
And I can't get you out of my head
The blood, the blood, the blood of the lamb
It's worth two lions, but here I am
And I slept in last night's clothes and tomorrow's dreams
But they're not quite what they seem
I can move mountains
I can work a miracle, work a miracle
Oh, oh, I keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us part
You'll find your way
And may death find you alive
Take me down the line
In Gem City we turn the tide
You'll find your way
And may death find you alive
Take me down the line
In Gem City we turn the tide
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
Bury me till I confess
She wants to dance like Uma Thurman
And I can't get you out of my head
I can move mountains
I can work a miracle, work a miracle
Oh, oh, I keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us part
I can move mountains
I can work a miracle, work a miracle
Oh, oh, I keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us part
The first stanza of Fall Out Boy's song Uma Thurman speaks to the power of love, with the singer saying that they can do anything for their significant other. They can move mountains, work miracles, and keep their love like an oath, never letting anything come between them. The second stanza switches gears to a reference to Uma Thurman, the iconic actress from films like Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill series. The singer talks about wanting to dance like her and be buried until they confess. The chorus repeats this desire to dance like Thurman, with the singer saying that they can't get that image out of their head.
The third stanza details a sexual encounter between the singer and their partner, with references to CK eternity perfume and the "stench of summer sex." The singer is asking to be made small so that they can be vulnerable to their partner's "venom." The fourth and final stanza brings in religious imagery, likening the blood of the lamb to two lions. The singer talks about sleeping in "last night's clothes and tomorrow's dreams," which might suggest that they don't know who they are or what they want. The final lines of the song repeat the chorus, closing out with a call to turn the tide in "Gem City."

Who's been messing up everything?
It's been Agatha all along
Who's been pulling every evil string?
It's been Agatha all along
She's insidious (Ha, ha!)
So perfidious
That you haven't even noticed
And the pity is (The pity is)
Pity, pity, pity, pity
It's too late to fix anything
Now that everything has gone wrong
Thanks to Agatha (Ha!)
Naughty Agatha
It's been Agatha all along

NOTONEFUCKWASGIVEN CAIO Roger Guenther So you are saying that compromising their artistic integrity to please their die hard fans not a sellout? Is playing the same thing over again over 10 years to never lose fans and cash in with the same old thing despite the composers wanting to try new things not a sellout?
GOOD artist will change and evolve their music style fit their personal preference that changes and evolves as well. Just because that personal preference is not their original concept or that the original fans don't like them does not make them a sellout.
Sellout means:
+Music that the original composers did not create to please mainstream fans
+Music that the composers create (despite wanting to try new things) to please die hard fans
Stop using the term "sellout" just because you don't like their new direction. If you do not like their music then move on.
