[Song Highlight] RM - "Do You"
|
Let’s go back for a second, back to the times of SoundCloud—back when BTS were exclusively using the platform to release their solo music and mixtapes. SoundCloud allowed, especially the members of the rap line, to release sampled, provocative, and political tracks that didn’t need to comply with Korea’s broadcasting guidelines.
Among these gunpowder-packed tracks are several fan favorites such as “Born Singer”, j-hope’s “One Verse”, agust D’s “마지막 (The Last),“ and the song of our article today, RM’s “Do You” from RM’s Self-titled Debut Mixtape RM.
RM was released exactly 8 years ago on March 20, 2015, back when our favorite Ilsan rapper still went by the name Rap Monster. The mixtape samples 8 tracks produced by other people, hence why it especially found its safe haven on Soundcloud, where copyright wouldn’t have given RM any trouble. RM also mentioned the following to the Korean Hip-hop magazine 힙합플레이야 (Hiphopplaya):
I tried to work on it as comforta
